Cairndoon Steading is a lovely attached steading and gives the perfect excuse for a relaxing holiday in this secret little corner of Scotland which soon becomes addictive! Almost every window in the steading offers a  living gallery capturing the Galloway Hills, the sea and open countryside. From a stunning coastline peppered with some lovely beaches away from the madding crowd to the patch work countryside criss crossed by dry stone walls. Galloway has been relatively untouched for many decades and this adds to the charm of the area. Cairndoon Steading has been beautifully restored from its lowly beginnings and is now a most charming home from home with every detail enhancing your stay from the oak lintels and original exterior stonework to open plan living space and luxurious and spacious bathrooms. The accommodation is conveniently accessible to those with disabilities. It provides a superb base for cyclists and hikers and those wishing to explore the area, with many activities and seriously good food on offer here.

Excellent cottage with fantastic views. A bit remote so a means of transport important. The host was very helpful.

A really great place to stay, lots of wildlife and big dark skies. We loved the cottage which has everything you need and is a short drive to the nearest shop. As self catering cottages go this has to rank up with the best we have been to, and our hosts were unobtrusive but there if you needed guidance or advice. Easy place to settle in and think of as another home. Very much a location we hadn't looked at before but beautiful sunsets and peaceful atmosphere. We loved it.
