Description

This wheelchair firendly property is situated in a wonderful area for exploring mid Wales, fantastic facilities on-site to be enjoyed.

These 3 beautiful and spacious barn conversions are set on a working sheep and beef farm, and each property has its own private hot tub. The farm itself has 140 acres, and the farmland links up to the Ystwyth Cycle Trail which is over 16 miles long. The interiors of the properties have vaulted ceilings, modern lighting, and furnished with leather sofas and wood-burning stoves, each with a hot tub available. All 3 properties (refs OA5, OA6 and OA7) can be booked together to form one large house sleeping 12, and they all have interconnecting doors which can be opened up. There is also the option of taking a horse on holiday, the farm has 6 loose boxes and a paddock which can be made available. Located near Tregaron, a small Welsh-speaking market town where guests can visit the famous Rhiannon Welsh Gold Centre that offers beautiful gifts and a fantastic art gallery. Tregaron is also famous for its trotting races, which are actually held here at Dolyrychain Farm on the Sunday following the May bank holiday and also over the August bank holiday weekend each year. The event is the largest of its kind and attracts over 10,000 visitors. This is a haven for walkers and cyclists with the Cambrian Mountains at the foot of the farm and the panoramic Pumlumon Mountains to the north. Visit the university town of Aberystwyth, home of the National Library of Wales, take a walk on the promenade or even catch the electric cliff railway on Construction Hill. For a magical day out take the narrow gauge railway from Aberystwyth to the heart of the Pumlumon Mountains where the destination will be the world famous Devils Bridge and Rheidol Falls. Ideal for fishing, as there is private fly fishing 2 miles away, as well as other fishing venues close by. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Spacious living/dining room with wood-burning stove, slate floor and spacious kitchen area with slate floor. Twin bedroom with zip & link beds. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Two twin bedrooms, each with zip & link beds; one with beams and en-suite bathroom with toilet, one with en-suite shower room with toilet.

Travelled with family of mixed ages (8 through to 74) and all had a wonderful stay. The cottage was decorated to a very high standard and all facilities on site were as described. The location was quite rural, and it took us a couple of attempts to find the right access road, but this just added to the adventure. We were also advised of this beforehand so there were no surprises. The village itself is very small and doesn't have any shops but the small town of Tregaron was only a 10 minute drive away and had a Spar which was handy for break, milk, etc. and a lovely takeaway. The kids loved the outdoors area behind the cottage although this is probably quite weather dependent. They loved the large hot tub though in all weathers. Aberystwyth is only a 35 minute drive away if you need more civilisation and has all the usual high street chains, supermarkets, etc. and was nice for a trip to the seaside for an ice-cream and arcades, etc. Would also highly recommend a trip to Devil's Bridge to see the waterfalls and explore. I would highly recommend the property for those who don't mind the rural location and would definitely stay again.

The cottage is beautiful, wonderful wood burner and hot tub a bonus even in the hail! The children made friends with our neighbours so the adjoining doors came in very handy. We can’t wait to return.

We have stayed at these cottages before, in April we were in the one for 4 people which has a more spacious kitchen diner separate from the lounge. Bwythyn Derwen has smaller living accommodation which is rather cramped for 6 people; this is due to downstairs bedroom/shower room. However, spotlessly clean, tasteful features/decor and great hot tub with lovely views across the hills. Such a peaceful, relaxing retreat. The owners are lovely and so helpful. We enjoyed a trip on the Rheidiol mountain railway and shopped in Lampeter. The Talbot in Tregaron is great, does excellent food and welcomes dogs too! Same with The Black Lion in Pontyfendigraid, although food service is very slow. We definitely recommend these cottages to anyone wishing to get away from it all.
