The historic rope-making town of Bridport with its twice weekly market is a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast, England’s only natural World Heritage Site. Sweet Briar (ref 8234) and Buzzards (ref 8235, first floor) are in the east wing of an old country house and Farthings (ref 19292) is in the west. Many badgers have made their sets in the hill behind, and there is an abundance of wildlife. Perfect for relaxing or more invigorating walking holiday in this AONB, which includes extensive NT land. Chesil Beach, one of the finest barrier beaches, begins at West Bay. Lyme Regis with its Cobb and the famous fossil beach at Charmouth are close by. Not far away is the ancient town of Dorchester with its Iron Age hill fort and Roman town house and many other sites of historic interest. Spend a day at Abbotsbury Swannery, the only place in the world where you can walk among the baby swans (hatching from May). Golf course and leisure centre nearby. Bike hire available locally. Ideal for exploring the Jurassic Coast or for just relaxing in this tranquil village. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Everything at Buzzards was excellent, but the WiFi in the upper apparent was occasionally marginal when tried with five different devices. It’s not important unless you have important work to do. An excellent place to to relax and enjoy the countryside and Jurassic Coast. Paul and his wife are perfect hosts.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are so glad that you enjoyed your 3 week stay at Buzzards finding the apartment excellent. The weather was mostly fine giving you time to explore this wonderful AONB region and the Jurassic Coast which is a World Heritage Site. When booking accommodation it is sensible to discuss your internet needs with one of the booking advisors. Speed rates in the countryside are not as fast as in towns and cities. However, many guests work here whilst they are on holiday and have found the internet speed perfectly suitable for their requirements.

No access to garden is allowed for Buzzards, so last weeks great weather and no outdoor seating on the plot for Buzzards . I did not like having to arrange to collect door key from the owner, why not use for a keysafe, most holiday lets do? Lack of sound insulation in the floor of Buzzards. I believe the property is over- developed. The road through Bothanhampton is full of parked cars and its a problem to drive along.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We had beautiful sunny weather the week you stayed at Buzzards, so wonderful for walking in the countryside or on the beach. It is clear in the details for Buzzards that there is no garden and there are no photos of a garden. It is always a good idea for guests to read the details carefully and look at the photos of a holiday property before booking, so that they can be sure to holiday in a property that suits their particular requirements. As you only want to collect a key from a key safe it would be sensible to speak to one of the many advisors at Cottages.com who are always so very helpful and can make sure that the property you choose has a key safe as not all properties offer this. Some Owners live on site or very nearby and so like to personally meet and greet their guests which can be useful when explaining how to operate things such as heating and appliances etc. We manage our properties to a high standard and always make sure we meet our guests who will be staying in one of our properties and we find that some guests actually prefer this as it feels more personal. We have been welcoming guests here for 35 years. Bothenhampton is an English country village with a mixture of slate roofed and thatched houses dating back hundreds of years. All that is needed to drive through the village is consideration for other road users. There is no over development. Buzzards looks out on to an organic farm behind and an old thatched cottage to the front. We are sorry that your holiday has not left you feeling calm and relaxed and do hope you enjoyed the home made cream tea when you arrived. All details for Buzzards are correct.

Lovely place, but nothing in village so have to use car to go everywhere but no problem Bridport and Westbay so close, Crown Inn on roundabout has very good food

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased that you had a good holiday and that you thought Buzzards was lovely, very clean and very comfortable. Many guests do not use their car whilst on holiday. The Jurassic Coaster bus stops at the end of our village and this is an easy and carefree way to see the wonderful Jurassic Coast. Bridport is only 20-25 minutes’ walk away and you will walk along the medieval high pavement, across the meadow and then along by the River Asker to town. It takes about 25 minutes to West Bay by walking through the Nature Reserve and then down to the old railway path arriving at the old station at West Bay which is now a delightful cafe.
