This is on a working farm but the noise levels are very low. The owners are live on site and happy to answer any questions or recommend places to visit. Millers Rest is a detached cottage and suited us completely as a couple in need of a peaceful rest.

The pictures on this site made this cottage look amazing, though the reality was far from amazing!! The place was cleanish, to a degree, however, the equipment available to us was not great. The frying pan, for instance, was rusty and the non stick had been rubbed away. It was not actually usable, and we ended up going and buying a new one just so we could cook. Non-stick oven dishes had the non stick peeling off (again - unusable). The dishwasher is integrated, and had had a significant leak at some stage, as the wood of the cupboard door and the kick board underneath had evident damp stains. The tumble dryer did not work (clothes in the tumble for 2hrs, came out as wet as they went in!!!!). Light fittings in the lounge full of dead flies, which could be seen when the lights were switch on. One light fitting leading to the back twin bedroom had been smashed at some time and was held together with tape. We lost the tv controller one evening down the back of the sofa. We wish we hadn't gone looking it!!!! Sweet wrappers, chocolate bar wrappers, breakfast cereal, crumbs and debris evident and a teaspoon. Wet rooms definitely need some TLC. Black mould evident around the plug area and up on the splash boards. Paint peeling off the walls up by the velux windows and again, evidence of black mould. Downlights in both wet rooms were broken (broken casing). Mirrors had evidence of discolouration. We actually bleached and cleaned the bathrooms before using them. Carpets in the bedrooms dirty and stained Beds are comfortable and were made up on arrival, but you are asked to strip the beds on departure. We were utterly shocked at the state of the duvets themselves. Sweat stained, yellow and absolutely filthy!!!! One the plus side, the location is great. It's quiet and easy access to Widemouth Bay and Bude.
