The owner was very rude to me after we arrived early and her husband had said we could arrive to drop of our cases they didn't communicate with each other and his wife came storming over and said to me in a rude tone "do you not know the rules, can you not read!!" This was on the first day and I never had an apology. The cleaner Joy witness her speaking to me like it, and apologised for her and was embarrassed by her behaviour but the owner who spoke to me rudely didn't apologise. Michael was lovely as was Joy the cleaner but the owner was very rude to me so I will not be returning to The Cider Barn

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I was naturally upset to read these comments. We are always friendly and helpful at all times. On this occasion I can recall the guest turned up 2 hours early, I do apologise as there was a miscommunication between us. My husband did indeed say he was happy for the guests to drop off their bags but they also wanted access to the property but unfortunately it wasn't ready for them. We do need the time in between the changeovers to have the property cleaned and prepared for the next guests which is why we have the check in time that we do. It was not my intention to cause any upset and so can only apologise that the guest felt like that.

The cottage was 'ok'. It was well presented. Not as clean as I would've hoped. There's nothing around it so no local walks, pubs or shops. The top floor made a dreadful sound when walked on so when your seeping at the bottom the noise when someone was upstairs was terrible!! I woke up several times at night. It sounded like the floor was going to cave in! However it was well equipped and had a nice country feel. We arrived to fresh flowers and fresh cake which was a lovely touch. The play area looks bigger in pictures and the equipment is broken, so a bit disappointed with that. Carol who owns the property is sweet but she seems to know little about what there is to do in Cornwall so I would plan and google things beforehand. The cottage has no wifi or reception which was extremely frustrating for us when it came to planning our days or keeping in touch at home. We all agreed we wouldn't go back but still think its worth a visit.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We apologise for the property not cleaned to your expectations. We will address this with our cleaning company and make sure they standard are to a higher level. The play area equipment has been checked and owners are looking in the future to replace with new pieces. At the moment there isn't wifi in the property but we are looking to have this installed in the future.
