Da Vinci’s Den is an artist-designed shepherd’s hut for two, set in a Devon meadow near Bondleigh. Part of Burnswood Boutique Escapes, which featured on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, it combines deep blue interiors with red and turquoise accents and Emma Shipley fabrics. Handmade oak stable doors and hand-forged fittings reflect the craftsmanship of its bespoke Plankbridge design.
At the heart of the hut is a king-size bed beneath a generous stargazing window, allowing you to look up at the night sky from beneath Egyptian cotton linen. The fitted kitchen, dining space and en-suite shower room are neatly arranged, leaving plenty of room to settle in for slow breakfasts and relaxed evenings together.
Open the double stable doors onto the gravel patio, where antique cast-iron furniture and a barbecue/firepit create a spot for meals outside. Behind the hut, private decking with recliners is home to a pre-bookable, log-fired Swedish outdoor bath—a memorable way to bring the day to a close.
Days out can be as active or unhurried as you like. Join the Tarka Trail nearby for a walk or cycle through the Devon countryside, explore the open moorland and wooded valleys of Dartmoor National Park, or spend a leisurely day exploring RHS Garden Rosemoor. Return to the Den for dinner outside as dusk settles over the meadow.
