Wheelwright Barn offers spacious living throughout and has been finished to a high standard with excellent levels of comfort. The large, split-level, open plan living/dining room/kitchen has retained all of the original character, complete with beams and the original, Victorian line shaft with cast iron drive wheels within the magnificent vaulted ceilings. The blend of contemporary design and traditional materials used in creating the kitchen, particularly the slate flooring and the original slate salting slab, really sets this kitchen apart. From the kitchen you can enjoy those amazing views and soak in the private, hydrotherapy Jacuzzi hot tub before snuggling down to a cosy night around the wood burner. Every bedroom has unique en-suite facilities, with the master bedroom offering luxurious comfort with a four poster kingsize bed and whirlpool bath. There is also a large private outdoor swimming pool located between the patio and the Orchard, within the grounds.
A 20-minute stroll and you are in the square of the seaside village of Ferryside, which was originally a ferry crossing on the Pilgrim’s Road to Llansteffan. Ferryside was once the heart of the Welsh cockling industry and still has a good number of locals harvesting these tasty shellfish. The village boasts a pub with local ales and live music, a renowned fish and chip restaurant specialising in locally sourced, home cooked food, a small general store, Post Office, railway station and a fantastic beach to explore with your family, build sandcastles, explore rock pools or relax and take in the views.
A couple of miles over the hill, the ancient town of Kidwelly is really worth a visit. Here you will find the historic Kidwelly Castle, teaming with history and one of the finest preserved Norman castles in Wales. Travelling east along the coastline, Pembrey Country Park boasts 500 acres to discover and ramble, with its extensive woodland, dry ski slope, toboggan run and miles of golden sandy beach, ideal for all ages. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
Wheelwright Barn can be booked together with The Coach House (ref UK33121) and Bronyn Cottage (ref UK11012) to accommodate up to 18 guests.
