Description

This unique detached property is set on the beautiful Isle of Skye, with its excellent walking trails and abundance of wildlife.

Brogaig Cottages are rather unique as they are built from corrugated steel and are architecturally designed, taking aspects from traditional crofters’ cottages into consideration with all up to date requirements. Quiraing (ref UK5330) is a more traditional design, keeping the appearance of a crofters’ cottage. The open plan living area is spacious, bright, stylishly furnished and equipped, with a multi-fuel burner and underfloor heating taking all your comforts into consideration. Storr (ref UK5331) has a more modern design, with a panoramic floor to ceiling window. These detached cottages are situated on a working croft in the crofting township of Brogaig-Staffin, at the foothills of the Quiraing which has the most dramatic landscape on Skye. Views over Staffin Bay and the hills beyond can be enjoyed from the comfort of the cottages. The owners who live nearby, are both local, native Gaelic speakers, and are on hand to assist with any queries and to give advice on places to go and see.
There is walking in the area to suit all abilities, from low level coastal to more challenging walking on the Trotternish Ridge. The famous dinosaur footprints on Staffin Beach are only a short walk from the cottages. An abundance of wildlife can be seen in the area, including eagles, fulmars, kestrels, otters, deer and so much more. The Staffin Museum is a must as it contains excellent collections of local geological and fossil specimens. There is so much to discover throughout the island, such as historic sites, castles, brochs, gardens, whisky distilleries, boat trips, pony trekking, kayaking and dramatic scenery and seascapes. Beach 1 mile. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 3 miles.
Quiraing (ref UK5330) can be booked with Storr (ref UK5331) to accommodate up to 4 guests.

Dining area.
Kitchen area: With electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
Bedroom: With zip and link kingsize bed (can be 2ft 6in twin beds on request) and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.

Oil underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for multi-fuel burner included. Welcome pack. Enclosed lawned garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.

    Broadband was down for the whole stay (told was a BT fault) had a couple of days where Broadband was working for 10 min periods but could not connect on 3 different devices as saying incorrect password. When 1 device was connected via WPS totally inadequate Broadband as could not do anything on any app. Broadband is very important to us and therefore was a big disappointment.

    Response on behalf of the owner; We were surprised and disappointed to read this review. Broadband was indeed down during their stay but it was absolutely a BT issue with the whole of the Staffin area being affected. This was explained to the guests upon their early arrival, which we had accommodated as they were keen to watch the World Cup football match that afternoon. We advised them that there was an internet café about 1.5 miles away which we understood had not been affected and we regularly updated them regarding BT progress with repairs. As they left we apologised for the inconvenience and hoped it hadn’t spoilt their holiday too much. They responded by saying “the holiday has been great thanks plenty of walking” so the poor review score does not seem to accurately reflect their holiday experience. Guests in our neighbouring cottage, who were also without broadband for their stay, said they’d had a fantastic holiday and understood that broadband issues were outwith our control. As they said, nobody should come to Skye for the weather or the wifi but for the stunning scenery, sense of history, wildlife, walking and photographic opportunities which they greatly enjoyed. The broadband issue has now been resolved by BT and we have taken the opportunity to upgrade to BT Superfast broadband in the hope of improving the broadband service for future guests.

    It was our first time on the Isle of Skye and we were blown away. Kathy and Charlie were lovely people and made our stay very special. The cottage is immaculate and very well positioned and furnished to a very high standard. The bed is very comfortable and all the little extra touches made it home from home. We would definitely go back.
