This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Nestled in the hamlet of Brigham, this property is a few miles away from the historical market town of Driffield.

Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Brigham, these former farm buildings date back to the 1700s and have been lovingly converted to provide wonderful holiday homes. All of the properties feature cosy underfloor heating as well as welcoming wood-burning stoves - ideal for those cooler evenings. Especially suitable for families with young children, the cottages have been individually decorated - each having been carefully designed. Outside, there are shared one-acre landscaped grounds to enjoy, with seating and a charcoal barbecue outside each cottage, which makes a perfect place for a summer picnic.

Ideal for families, as children and adults alike can enjoy farm life, gathering eggs for breakfast and feeding the friendly sheep, ponies, goats and guinea pigs on the children’s farm. For a different family day out, bikes are available to explore the stunning countryside on quiet, picturesque lanes. For older children there is shared use of a games room with a full-size snooker table and table tennis, whilst for the younger ones, a large sand pit, pedal tractors, trailers and diggers and various outdoor games are available. Within the locality there are also a number of golf courses, and riding stables are 10 miles away. Set alongside the Driffield Canal, it is the perfect location for those who enjoy ‘messing about on the river’, as there is a small jetty for those who wish to bring their own canoes or small boats.

Brigham village is noted in the Domesday Book and lies as a sleepy hamlet, yet just a few miles distant is the historical market town of Driffield. Delightful York (30 miles) is always a pleasure to visit, with plenty to do and see for the whole family. The magnificent minster dominates the city, which is full of quaint shops, restaurants and pubs. Together with the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum, this historic city makes for an entertaining day out.

For lovers of the outdoors, there are numerous walks for all standards incuding gentle strolls along the banks of the canal, coastal walks or taking in the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds. The beaches of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey are easily accessible, and Hornsea with its ‘Freeport Shopping Centre’ is also well worth a visit. The area boasts a number of stately homes, as well as theatres and cinemas. Shop within 2½ miles. Several pubs/restaurants within 3 miles.

Meadow View (IJV), The Byre (IJW), The Stable (IJX), The Granary (IJY) can be booked together to accommodate up to 20 guests and are suitable for families, whilst allowing privacy of their own accommodation.

We had a wonderful time, the little ones loved the animals and the egg collecting. The house was very warm and comfortable, and extremely well equipped. There was a slight problem with the small bedrooms and the very low beams.

We had an excellent stay at the granary, the cottage is lovely and very well equipped, clean and with extra touches like a pint of milk, tea and coffee etc which were very welcome. The games room is very well thought out and surprisingly warm in cold weather! The lounge and kitchen are really suitable for families or a group of friends, mind your head on some of the beams upstairs! We would stay there again, only downside really was the WiFi was slow but it is in a rural location. A bit of a shame there isn’t a pub or shop in walking distance but you can’t have everything 😊

Cottage best equipped and cleanest we have ever experienced, and the grounds so spacious and interesting, especially the games room, animals, toys, and Wendy house. Couldn’t give a 10 because the exceptionally low beams upstairs were a problem for us, though presumably a structural necessity... Had a wonderful holiday.

Comfort and equipment would have been ten if not for the low beams in some rooms which meant that, with eight adults, one person at least would not duck soon enough. However that said it was an extremely well laid out and comfortable cottage with more than enough to keep us occupied. The fresh eggs were an unexpected bonus. Definitely recommend it and hope to book again.

This is a lovely cottage, the farm is fantastic and the location beautiful. Unfortunately the low beams in two of the bedrooms and one bathroom as well as the landing are incredibly low (face height). Even our 10 year old had to bend down to reach her bed! Apart from the low beams the cottage is perfect, but they do make things a bit uncomfortable! The wifi is also very slow, probably due to the remote location of the cottage! So overall we had a great time, but we did find the incredibly low beams very annoying!
