Description

Nestled in the hamlet of Brigham, this property is a few miles away from the historical market town of Driffield.

Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Brigham, these former farm buildings date back to the 1700s and have been lovingly converted to provide wonderful holiday homes. All of the properties feature cosy underfloor heating as well as welcoming wood-burning stoves - ideal for those cooler evenings. Especially suitable for families with young children, the cottages have been individually decorated - each having been carefully designed. Outside, there are shared one-acre landscaped grounds to enjoy, with seating and a charcoal barbecue outside each cottage, which makes a perfect place for a summer picnic.

Ideal for families, as children and adults alike can enjoy farm life, gathering eggs for breakfast and feeding the friendly sheep, ponies, goats and guinea pigs on the children’s farm. For a different family day out, bikes are available to explore the stunning countryside on quiet, picturesque lanes. For older children there is shared use of a games room with a full-size snooker table and table tennis, whilst for the younger ones, a large sand pit, pedal tractors, trailers and diggers and various outdoor games are available. Within the locality there are also a number of golf courses, and riding stables are 10 miles away. Set alongside the Driffield Canal, it is the perfect location for those who enjoy ‘messing about on the river’, as there is a small jetty for those who wish to bring their own canoes or small boats.

Brigham village is noted in the Domesday Book and lies as a sleepy hamlet, yet just a few miles distant is the historical market town of Driffield. Delightful York (30 miles) is always a pleasure to visit, with plenty to do and see for the whole family. The magnificent minster dominates the city, which is full of quaint shops, restaurants and pubs. Together with the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum, this historic city makes for an entertaining day out.

For lovers of the outdoors, there are numerous walks for all standards incuding gentle strolls along the banks of the canal, coastal walks or taking in the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds. The beaches of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey are easily accessible, and Hornsea with its ‘Freeport Shopping Centre’ is also well worth a visit. The area boasts a number of stately homes, as well as theatres and cinemas. Shop within 2½ miles. Several pubs/restaurants within 3 miles.

Meadow View (IJV), The Byre (IJW), The Stable (IJX), The Granary (IJY) can be booked together to accommodate up to 20 guests and are suitable for families, whilst allowing privacy of their own accommodation.

Comfort and equipment would have been ten if not for the low beams in some rooms which meant that, with eight adults, one person at least would not duck soon enough. However that said it was an extremely well laid out and comfortable cottage with more than enough to keep us occupied. The fresh eggs were an unexpected bonus. Definitely recommend it and hope to book again.

My family had a lovely stay at The Granary last weekend. Myself and my husband, his parents, sister and her husband took three children ranging in age from 1 to 4 and it was just perfect for them. The house was so well equipped, comfortable and clean. The children's play barn, games room and surroundings were great. They spent a lot of time playing with the toys and looking at the animals. It was so convenient for us to take trips to Hornsea and Bridlington from The Granary and not too far from neighbourung villages for a take away and a newspaper. We all remarked that we'd love to come back again and make our visit a regular occurrence.

Fantastic Holiday cottage!!!! The Granary is so well equipped and feel like a home from home. The kids loved the play barn and getting there own eggs. Already talking about a return visit.

What a fabulous cottage, it is rather remote but that was what we wanted. It's very well equipped and very comfortable. It felt like a hone from home. Loved the fact that you could get your own eggs from the chickens. The games room is Great with a snooker table, pool table and toys for the kiddies . There's even a play barn. It's surrounded by fields and the nearest village is Driffield. It would be a excellent place to book with a large group as the entire complex sleeps 22. We had the larger cottage which slept 10 in total with the sofa bed. We had 6 people and it was plenty big enough. The owners clearly know what they're doing because absolutely every eventuality was catered for. The website does state no Wi-Fi but there is. We would definitely stay again. Loved our stay. The only drawback for us is the no dogs policy but apart from that 10 out of 10.

My children loved staying at the granary. There was loads of activities to keep them occupied. Only downside was the gravelled yard as it was difficult for a wheelchair to operate on it
