English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Description

This property has shared access to a games room which has a full-size snooker table, pool table and table tennis.

Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Brigham, these former farm buildings date back to the 1700s and have been lovingly converted to provide wonderful holiday homes. All of the properties feature cosy underfloor heating as well as welcoming wood-burning stoves - ideal for those cooler evenings. Especially suitable for families with young children, the cottages have been individually decorated - each having been carefully designed. Outside, there are shared one-acre landscaped grounds to enjoy, with seating and a charcoal barbecue outside each cottage, which makes a perfect place for a summer picnic.

Ideal for families, as children and adults alike can enjoy farm life, gathering eggs for breakfast and feeding the friendly sheep, ponies, goats and guinea pigs on the children’s farm. For a different family day out, bikes are available to explore the stunning countryside on quiet, picturesque lanes. For older children there is shared use of a games room with a full-size snooker table and table tennis, whilst for the younger ones, a large sand pit, pedal tractors, trailers and diggers and various outdoor games are available. Within the locality there are also a number of golf courses, and riding stables are 10 miles away. Set alongside the Driffield Canal, it is the perfect location for those who enjoy ‘messing about on the river’, as there is a small jetty for those who wish to bring their own canoes or small boats.

Brigham village is noted in the Domesday Book and lies as a sleepy hamlet, yet just a few miles distant is the historical market town of Driffield. Delightful York (30 miles) is always a pleasure to visit, with plenty to do and see for the whole family. The magnificent minster dominates the city, which is full of quaint shops, restaurants and pubs. Together with the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum, this historic city makes for an entertaining day out.

For lovers of the outdoors, there are numerous walks for all standards incuding gentle strolls along the banks of the canal, coastal walks or taking in the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds. The beaches of Bridlington, Scarborough and Filey are easily accessible, and Hornsea with its ‘Freeport Shopping Centre’ is also well worth a visit. The area boasts a number of stately homes, as well as theatres and cinemas. Shop within 2½ miles. Several pubs/restaurants within 3 miles.

Meadow View (IJV), The Byre (IJW), The Stable (IJX), The Granary (IJY) can be booked together to accommodate up to 20 guests and are suitable for families, whilst allowing privacy of their own accommodation.

Single-storey cottage. Scatter rugs on stone floor throughout. Spacious open-plan living/dining room with vaulted beamed ceiling, wood-burning stove, and well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen. A five star stay. Very comfortable and clean accommodation. Home from home facilities and mod cons. We had access to so many games and toys my five year old didn't get time to use them all! The adults loved the table tennis and snooker too. My only gripe is that the WiFi was very, very intermittent and you can forget streaming anything! We'd definitely stay again.

This was our second visit to meadow view. The cottage in itself is immaculate.. comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. It's great for kids with the farm animals.. huge play barn and games room. It's not the best place to visit if you seek walks on your doorstep.. a car is essential for any outing or shopping etc. It's perfect for a quiet relaxed break. We had a bit of an issue with the back door key which is extremely stiff and we thought we were locked out at one point.. but wouldn't put me off. The only real gripe we had is that other guests in the other cottages seem to park directly in front of the main bedroom.. this meant that we constantly had the curtains closed for privacy.. and in the afternoons during our babies nap.. She was awoken by sound of the car doors and people getting in and out of the car. Perhaps a simple sign suggesting parking only for meadow view would be helpful?

stayed here 3 times now enjoyed it every time our little boy loves the play area and getting the hens eggs in the morning. The cottage is great for a small family and is near to the coast if you wish to visit Hornsea, Bridington etc.

Fantastic place, amazing value, spotlessly clean. A little piece of heaven. A nice jacuzzi bath which helped my back ache, and the open fireplace was lovely. I'd give it a 12 out of 10.

The cottage is the cleanest, most well equipped and comfortable that we have ever stayed in. Anything you may need is provided for you and much more. The cottage is warm and very cosy.

Everything provided for children was excellent. Our grandchildren loved feeding the animals and collecting eggs. We all spent quite a bit of time in the games room: Grandad especially enjoyed playing snooker and Grandma discovered she could still play table tennis! The play barn for younger children is very generously populated with sit and ride toys, and diggers and trucks for the sand pit. The property surroundings are immaculately maintained and child friendly with outdoor play space and equipment. Internally, we couldn’t fault the property: everything needed was provided. We gave this property a good rating for value for money because we didn’t needed to be out all the time looking for things to keep the children occupied.
