History enthusiasts will find plenty to explore from this barn conversion, with Pevensey and Herstmonceux castles, and Battle all within easy reach.

This detached barn conversion is on a main road which is busy at certain times of the day, adjacent to the owner’s home, is ideally placed for accessing the 1066 Country Walk, which includes the Norman’s landing site at Pevensey, the battle site and the castles at Pevensey and Herstmonceux. From Pevensey Castle, there are further links to the South Downs Way. Boreham Bridge Barn resides in its own historical setting close to Battle, the site was excavated in 2008 and timbers were discovered which were radio carbon dated to 660-830AD, suggesting a mid to late Saxon jetty was present, with the coastline being much further inland than it is today. As a result, an archaeological survey was carried out and several fired clay pieces of East Sussex ware, probably from a kiln or bread oven, were discovered along with fragments of storage vessels dating to early–mid Iron Age, and flint tools dating back to the Bronze Age. Most of these pieces you can see on display in the barn.
Explore the rolling countryside and take a ride on the Kent and Sussex steam railway, which can take you to the fairytale moated castle at Bodiam. Enjoy the coast at Hastings with its fishing fleet, pier and iconic net huts. Camber Sands offers miles of golden sand dunes and an opportunity to polish up your kite surfing skills, and Eastbourne at the foot of the South Downs also makes for a great day out. From Battle, there are good train links into London if you fancy a spot of sightseeing. Beach 8 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Very nice en spacious cottage with a fenced garden witch is super when you have dogs. Maybe just one tip, the very beautiful light blue carpet in the sitting area is not really dog proof (we removed it during our stay:-)). The milk in the fridge and the wine, was a very nice surprise.

Fantastic place for a weekend break. Great communication with owner. The house is fully equipped with absolutely everything you can need and more. Very comfortable beds and great showers. We had a lovely weekend exploring the local area and could have stayed longer. Lovely cottage. Would definitely recommend to others and if we're back this way would stay again. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay as a family of five in Boreham Bridge Barn. The cottage is stylish and spacious with a lovely big garden. There was everything we needed awaiting us when we arrived. My only issue was the busy main road next to the cottage. It is noisy for most of the day and we needed to keep windows open because it was so hot. So the noise was hard to block out. But apart from this, we were really happy with the cottage and would certainly recommend it as a great place to stay. It is located in a beautiful and very historic part of the country close to lots of interesting places.

The barn was exceptionally well designed, making the most of the available space.Decor was great. We would stay again and would recommend to our friends. To dog owners, not so sure, main road and a need to drive to a convenient and safe walking area. Otherwise top notch! Alick, Janet and Tim

The cottage was built in Jan 2018 so all the fixtures and fittings, beds etc were new. Lounge and dining furniture didn't look new though. There was a strange selection and arrangement of lounge seating as we struggled to seat all 6 of us together in the lounge area at the same time and from here watching the wall mounted TV was awkward. The small patio area to the rear of the property only catered for seating 4, although there was a picnic style table on the raised grass lawn which would be difficult to reach for people with physical difficulties. No Wi-Fi provided. The Ad said it parked 2 cars, we parked 3 cars easily so suggest this data is amended in the brochure. The adjoining 'A' road was VERY, VERY noisy (as advertised) so sleeping with the bedroom windows open (as we did) was even noisier! The shaving mirror in the upstairs toilet is set for someone 5 foot tall, adding a second mirror on the adjoining wall at a height of 6 foot would be beneficial. We could not get any of the heated towel rails to work and so struggled to dry our towels. We were told that they came on with the central heating system (which had been turned off with no access to the controls by guests). As these were all electric towel rails, with switches on the wall for them, they should have operated independently. My guess was that their circuit was switched off from the fuse box which we had no access to. That was a pity. Entry and egress from the property by car is easy and you get a lovely view from the front bedroom window. All the beds were comfortable (so I was told by our fellow guests). The kitchen was well equipped and everything in it worked.
