Rose Cottage occupies a corner of the courtyard of Bonawe House, surrounded by mature beech trees and gardens. The house and grounds are situated close to Loch Etive and Ben Cruachan, on the edge of the village of Taynuilt. The village is within a 15-minute walk of the cottage and offers a selection of shops, a café and golf course.
Rose Cottage has been carefully renovated by the owners to offer those important modern comforts in a traditional cottage setting. The light and airy living/dining room allows you to enjoy the views beyond. Outside you’ll find a small seating area where you can sit out whilst admiring the scenery and enjoying the tranquillity of the area. The natural and wooded gardens are shared with the other holiday properties with seating areas in front of the property.
Taynuilt is a busy little village with great transport connections and has a popular village pub serving food, as well as small shops and attractions very nearby. It has a hotel with a bar and restaurant, a general store, post office, butchers, hairdressers, café and a railway station all within a 5-minute walk. The busy little town of Oban, 12 miles, has an array of shops, bars and restaurants. You can catch a short ferry trip to one of the Inner Hebrides, including Mull, Staffa and Iona. This interesting area has an abundance of wildlife with golden eagles, basking sharks, porpoises and otters often seen. Explore ruined castles, beautiful gardens, and sites of historical interest. Visit Bonawe Iron Works, Cruachan Hollow Mountain and Oban Distillery, all nearby. Outdoor activities in the area include walking, cycling, diving, sailing, kayaking, horse riding, golf, mountain biking and fishing. Glencoe and Fort William are easily accessible and also offer mountain biking, climbing and skiing. Further afield, enjoy a day out visiting either Inveraray Jail or Auchindrain Museum. Beach ½ mile.
