We had an amazing week away and the weather was excellent. The only thing I will say is that I think there should have been some sun loungers as there was in the photo when we booked. Also a few more basic food items in the kitchen, ie oil, pepper, more than 2 dishwasher tablets. slight niggles only but will know for next year

Been coming here for 14 years off; and on , no more weekend bookings is no good to me , in all that time they put a new bathroom in as old one was past it , other than that it’s never had anything done to make it more modern same old furniture that’s uncomfortable and old , yet more rules and regulations in all I doubt I’ll book blue sails again the only thing this cottage has ever had going for it is the beautiful views and location , the double bed am sure it’s never been changed it felt like a bunch of children had used it for a trampoline , it’s a lot of money for just the view and beach , without the weather here it is a depressing stay , even the tv is too small the cottage needs a full restoration including furniture & fittings it’s a cash cow that is losing its appeal

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are so sorry that you do not appear to have enjoyed your visit on this occasion. Over the last fourteen years considerable improvements have been made to the property in addition to the new bathroom which you mention. These include re-decoration in the bedrooms, dining room, kitchen and sitting room, new carpets in the bedrooms, stairs, landing and dining room, new curtains in the sitting room, dining room and bedrooms, a new wood burner in the sitting room as well as external painting and improvements to the garden including the planting of new trees, shrubs, plants etc. There are also new sofas in the sitting room, all of which is clear from the online and brochure descriptions of the property. There have been new mattresses in all the bedrooms. However, we will have them checked and any that are defective in any way will be replaced. The TV has a standard 32” screen. We have retained some of the family antiques as we feel that these add to the character of the house and we have been careful to always respect the integrity of a traditional Welsh cottage, again in order to retain its charm and character. We do appreciate that it can be disappointing if the weather is not good when on holiday, but we do have all our family holidays in Blue Sails and all the family find that it is always warm, cosy and welcoming even in bad weather. In fact we often enjoy watching the changing weather conditions across the beautiful Menai Straits and the Snowdonia mountains in the distance.

Yet again a peaceful stay at quirky Blue Sails. Weather was poor but it doesn’t really matter because the location is so perfect and there is now WiFi ! Cottage was spotless. Even though it allows pets there was no smell of dogs. To gain maximum benefit from the cottage I would like to make a suggestion. Have you considered getting rid of the two uncomfortable bunk beds ( which are very small) and putting 2 comfortable single beds in what is now the dining room and putting a dining table and chairs where the bunk beds are? Thanks for a lovely stay and a very helpful caretaker.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions. The bunk beds are full sized single beds which both have new comfortable 3ft mattresses. We are very pleased that you enjoy Blue Sails so much. We will pass on your kind comments to our new housekeeper and we look forward to welcoming you as guests on a future occasion.

We’ve been to Blue Sails on and off for many years because of the fantastic location. Without a doubt the cottage needs WiFi and a second television in one of the bedrooms... the weather isn’t guaranteed and the second television/dvd would allow children to play on PlayStations etc or watch a dvd if you cannot get out. My husband needed WiFi connection because he needed to keep in touch with work and we’d brought our Amazon firestick as we knew the weather would most probably raining (which it was). You’re paying for the location... which is lovely but needs updating.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you were disappointed that, as notified at the time of booking, there was no WiFi in the property. We are happy to say that WiFi is now available to guests in both Blue Sails and The Beach House. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee weather conditions in Anglesey in March. However, the high pressure of the winter months does often provide clear blue skies, blue sea and impressive sunrises over the Menai Straits and the mountains beyond. We are delighted that you enjoyed the location of Blue Sails.

A lovely cottage in the perfect location. A nice walk along the beach takes you into Beaumaris, which has everything you need. Bedrooms are comfortable and the living room is spacious. The kitchen is well equipped. There was nothing better than having a morning cuppa on the patio whilst admiring the views across the sea. This is the second time we have stayed at Blue Sails and we will definitely return.

Arrived with storm Callum in his glory and to intermittent electricity supply! The agent and owner were very responsive to the problem with follow up the next morning to ensure everything O.K. Concern over the quality of the water supply with double teabags unable to mask an unpleasant taste and smell. Bottled water a must !! The dog seemed to survive tho'. Situation improved over 2-3 days. Second time @ Blue Sails. Lovely location and we hope this advantage doesn't compromise the preparation and presentation of the property to customers.

This cottage is in a stunning location and we had a lovely week. We would definitely return for the view. It is quite shabby and did smell in most rooms so could do with a re-furb/redecoration as it’s not been done in a long time. Also could do with a deep clean as many cobwebs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are very sorry to hear that you experienced unpleasant aromas during your visit. Had you reported this on arrival, we would have taken immediate steps to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, following your visit we discovered that inappropriate items had been placed in the lavatory and this had caused a blockage in the sewage disposal system and we suspect that this has caused the problem. This has now been remedied. The property is continually improved and refurbished on an annual ongoing basis whilst retaining the atmosphere of a characterful and traditional Welsh cottage. We are pleased that despite this problem you had a lovely week.
