Peaceful location

This charming holiday cottage is attractively presented and offers an immaculate home from home. All at ground floor and adjoining the owner’s home, it has spectacular country views and a private small garden and patio area. The property is surrounded by good walking country and there is a network of footpaths from the doorstep. The picturesque, unspoilt village of Kirkoswald, with its cobbled market place, is a frequent winner of the best-kept village competition and is located in the beautiful Eden Valley, a tranquil part of Cumbria. The village church has a unique feature, a 19th-century bell tower perched on a hilltop 200 yards from the church itself. Situated between Carlisle and Penrith, there is easy access to Hadrian’s Wall, the Northern Pennines, the western fringe of the Yorkshire Dales, the Scottish Border and Northumberland. Access to the shore side of the lake, Ullswater, at Pooley Bridge is only a short drive away, with Keswick and Derwent Water, along with Lake Buttermere, being only a little further. The Cumbrian Cycle Route passes near the village and there is good fishing on the River Eden close by. Shop and pubs within ¾ mile.

A spacious, charming cottage which is also cosy and in an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside. Set in a farm environment in a rural location it has everything you could need for a week away. A multi-fuel stove made for lovely warm evenings even though there was plenty of heat throughout the cottage, with each radiator independently controlled. I went with my dog and there were additional dog towels and treats as well as welcoming flowers and shortbread biscuits. We did a lot of walking and had quite a bit of kit for the week but there was room for everything with spacious wardrobes to put things out of sight. The TV was of good quality and there was a selection of novels as well as a bureau with information about the location and places to visit.

Fantastic cottage. Very comfortable and home from home, Pam is such a lovely lady. She thinks of every little detail to make your stay wonderful. Pam has always made s very welcome as we have stayed at the cottage about seven times now. We will be back again in the very now future. We cannot recommend the cottage highly enough.

The cottage is lovely. It is set in lovely quiet countryside with no sounds other than a few clucking hens wandering about and bleeting sheep with one exception which had a bad cough and frightened the living daylights out of me when taking my dog for a walk at midnight. The owner was brilliant she went out of her way to help us with anything we needed during our stay. Would go back in a flash.

The cottage was warm, cosy and clean. Pam was an excellent host and the biscuits and wine on arrival was a nice touch. Cottage was very peaceful and quiet. Ideal for a romantic break. Only downside for me was that it could have done with a larger frying pan as it was only big enough for 1 steak

Lovely cottage and very welcoming owners, a great place to stay and ideal location. Situated so the Lakes ,south Scotland and Northumberland are all within reach. I would definitely recommend this cottage for a quiet restful break, an added bonus was allowing the dog to stay.

Third time we have stayed at Berrymoor Farm cottage although twelve years have elapsed since the previous stay, but is still the best cottage we have ever stayed in. The welcome is great, lovely flowers and wine and biscuits on arrival. Pam and Mike are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and if you like a peaceful location this is it. Weather was hot and sunny all week and together with Bonnie our Lab we enjoyed a fantastic week. We hope to be back soon. Jackie & Ray.
