The Simonside Hills provide a tranquil backdrop and are ideal if you want to step out of your door and go out for a walk or cycle ride. The Ranges nearby are part of the National Park, providing idyllic walking conditions for those wishing to enjoy more of the landscape. Nearby Coquet River has plenty of salmon and sea trout and so is ideal for a spot of fishing. Golf enthusiasts will love watching over the golf course whilst relaxing from the front gardens equipped with decked areas and garden furniture, perfect for relaxing after a day’s exploring this fantastic and diverse county.
Here you are only a mile from the small town of Rothbury, home to plenty of pubs, cafés and a few independent shops, as well as an award-winning butcher, riverside and play park for the children. Parking in Rothbury is free and available in most of the small town. A few miles drive will take you over to Alnwick, home to the Duke of Northumberland where he resides in the famous castle open to the public and used in some ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Downton Abbey’ scenes. A day trip over to the Northumberland National Park is well worth the effort in any season and Kielder Water Riverside has plenty of stopping-off picnic areas for the family. Nearby Cragside House, a National Trust property, has beautiful gardens and is a lovely visit for all ages.
Northumberland Heritage Coastline makes for a wonderful day out where you can explore up and down the coastline taking in historic castles and some unspoilt golden beaches. Return back to your comfy cottage and relax on the decked area and enjoy a lovely chilling evening watching over the hills and valley.
