Description

A lovely family-friendly house ideal for exploring the area with both Plymouth and Totnes within easy reach.

Beacon Cottage is a spacious, substantial detached house with a bright and light interior situated just a 2-minute walk from Dartmoor National Park on the edge of Ivybridge. This holiday property has the most magnificent, far-reaching views across the rolling countryside as far as the sea on the horizon. Being just a 5-minute drive from the A38, Beacon Cottage is a lovely base for those wanting to explore the wider region. This is a lovely, family-friendly house, perhaps ideal for visiting relatives in the area, summer holidays, or a cosy winter break with the open fire in the living room and central heating. In the kitchen, there is an Aga, electric cooker and induction hob. There is direct access onto Dartmoor National Park as the moorland behind the property is the start of the Two Moors Way, which walkers will just love with its stunning scenery and amazing views; the coastal walk is also nearby. Ivybridge, the nearest town, has an indoor swimming pool, leisure centre, good shopping area and supermarkets. Ivybridge railway station is just one mile from the property with easy connections to Plymouth. The local area is also well served by ample bus connections, visitors can park at the railway station (free all day), with a bus every half hour into Plymouth. There is riding available 2 miles away and golf 3 miles, with easy access to St Mellion Golf Club. The city of Plymouth, with its historic Barbican area, restaurants, bars, Hoe and waterfront, is a popular place to visit, and is just 20 minutes away in the car. The rural market town of Totnes, with its eclectic array of shops, is about 30 minutes’ drive. Shops 1 mile.

Lovely relaxing holiday in a beautiful peaceful location. Sue, the owner was very friendly and helpful and we loved the treats on arrival.

On arrival we were welcomed by the sight of scones and clotted cream and strawberries left by the caretaker for us which was a nice touch. The cottage itself sits on the edge of Dartmoor and has a stunning view across the countryside. The field behind the cottage had horses which came up to us by the garden fence and with the views made for a relaxing time in the sun. The cottage provides a great base to see all around the local area, including the choice of a number of fantastic beaches on the coast, walking on the moors, or visiting the main town of Plymouth about 20 minutes away and other attractions for all ages. In all it was an excellent holiday and I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to stay in South Devon.

I was here before 27 years ago with my parents and now went to this cottage again with my own family and it was great! The cottage is very well equipped. The view is fabulous! The area is beautiful and there are lots of things to do. In and around the house you have a lot of privacy. I would not be surprised if we came back in the future.

Lovely stay and very hospitable host. The house is comfortable, warm and the views are wonderful. The Aga is fun to try and cook in (regular oven too if preferred) and the games room kept our 9 and 10 year old happy with their own little space to play in. Feeding the horses was great and Dartmoor on the back doorstep is wonderful for walking everyday. We hope to be back again for more walking and hopefully with better weather.

The best of South Devon is easily accessible from this very comfortable house situated within yards of the moor and close to the expressway and the facilities and welcome ensure that it is always a pleasure to return.

We were a family of 4 staying in the cottages over the Christmas period, the house was decorated and very well presented. The property is south facing with lovely views of the farms and landscape, with a bird feed and cows complimenting the view. The weather was not the best, but the size of the property made it possible to relax indoors with the children, enjoying the fireplace and the sitting areas. This must be one of the best equipped properties we have been to, with all the necessities and quite a few added luxuries. Rooms are generously sized and have great views as well. All in all a great week away....to be honest during that week I looked to extend our stay, but it was already taken!
