We had a lovely stay at Bayview, beautiful location, beautiful house filled with everything you need and very helpful property manager. The back gate needs fixing which has been mentioned by someone in a review from March. Not ideal when it blows open easily and you’re outside with the dog. The following does need to be known however: The description for the location is not accurate. There is a pub across the road but they do not serve food and have not done so for years and there is no ice cream parlour much to the disappointment of the children. There is a tea room a few minutes walk away, they provide dinner if you book in advance (delicious) however they do not allow dogs so we had to go in 2 sittings. The next closest restaurant to eat was 30 minute walk but again do not allow dogs so you have to sit outside, not ideal when raining. There is another tearoom 30mins away but open limited hours but allow dogs inside. Summary, not a dog friendly area for eating and nowhere really to eat apart from those 2 places, everything else is closed. There is a local shop just over a mile away, not 0.5 as suggested and open at limited times. A beautiful beach is a 25 min walk. Did not see anything re bike hire, horse riding or sea fishing. Wifi is ok in the house but no signal outside it. Note the road to Carradale is very windy, narrow and steep in places, as we needed two cars we did not venture out to the other islands as one of the drivers had a manual and struggled on the trip there (and he is a very competent driver). If you are there for walks, beautiful surroundings and cooking at home, this place will suit just fine.

Great house for two families, very well equipped and well thought out, with a very handy little pub across the road. Lots of lovely well sign posted walks around Carradale. Everyone had a great time, although the info sheet that you are sent in advance should be updated as there is a local convenience shop open, also a number of shops/ cafes/ restaurants closed so if you are happy to cook then great, but you may need to drive over 30 mins to a restaurant. I would recommend a visit to Kintyre gin it’s 2 miles from the house. The boat rib tour from Campbeltown is also a great activity, everyone in our group loved it and Petes Surf at West port beach also holds surf lessons which our kids really enjoyed.
