The location of the property was ideal for us. It is a quiet spot and the trains are not intrusive, but provided us with a relaxing rail trip to Newcastle. There are walks from the doorstep, with both Hadrian's Wall and Roman sites in walking distance. The property itself is very spacious and includes three sofas and a large dining area. The bedroom is comfortable and en suite. There is also a second bathroom. Although the property is centrally heated, we were provided with everything needed to have a real fire too. We did not need to use it, but it was a nice touch. The owners left us a bottle of wine and a large (and delicious) fruit cake too. Our only, minor, criticism is that there were a number of failed light bulbs in the living area. All in all, a lovely property.

The Waiting Room is perfect, very spacious and comfortable with everything you could want, it really was like home-from-home. The only very slight negative is the lack of any garden. There is a small gravel patio at the back and some lovely wooded walks beside the river are only the length of the railway platform away so dogs are still well catered for (Boo had a great time and also recommends it ). The location is very central for some great days out - walking, Hadrians Wall, Kielder Water, the coast (Whitley Bay recommended), even Lindisfarne and Berwick upon Tweed are within travelling distance and well worth the trip. Shopping at Corbridge (also recommended), Carlisle and Hexham to keep the wife happy. We had a great week but still didn't see everything we wanted to so going back again next year!

Bardon Mill Waiting Room was set in the most beautiful countryside I’ve ever seen, the river close by was great for dog walking as were many of the villages nearby, close to Hadrians wall and other Roman sites , the Bowes hotel 100yds away did great pub food and the small cafe/ shop as well. The coast about an hour and a half in either direction NE coast our favourite. The accommodation itself was very spacious with everything you need ( great Wi-Fi) easy to keep warm and great for parking as well as station on your doorstep. Fabulous fruit cake and bottle of wine on arrival. We will be coming to visit again .
