On a working farm in beautiful open countryside with views overlooking the magnificence of the Forth Bridges to Edinburgh beyond, this delightful cottage offers excellent holiday accommodation. It is situated only 3 miles from the silver sands of the beach of the picturesque village of Aberdour, with its fine castle and interesting little shops and tearooms. There is easy access by train from the village to Edinburgh, only 20 minutes away, perfect for sightseeing without the parking stress. Or drive through the lovely fishing villages of the East Neuk to St Andrews. Deep Sea World 5 miles. Golf 2 miles and excellent walking and cycling on the Fife Coastal Path. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

    This holiday was a family gathering to celebrate the graduation of my wife, as such an impressive location was called for. This was it, near enough to Edinburgh to make getting there and back easy, far enough away to make it relaxing. The views over the Firth of Fourth are to say the least impressive; all three bridges in clear view. This is a relatively large property, two bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom and two downstairs with another bathroom; a big and well equipped kitchen/dining room and lounge. There's no WiFi so you have to talk to one another if you don't have mobile data. One thing we really liked about the place. We were lucky with the weather but the cottage was comfortable and warm anyway. We were self catering and the kitchen allowed all seven of us enough room to sit around and chat over our drinks and meals. The location of the cottage also allowed us easy access to the local amenities, Aberdour, Inverkeithing and Edinburgh not being far. Bankhead Farm is remote and you need transport to get around, even to travel to the local train station at Inverkeithing. However the M90 isn't far and easy to get to, so the road travel is relatively easy, however watch out for the Edinburgh rush hour, as with all big cities it slows thing down. Bear in mind that the cottage is next to a working farm, so some noise from machinery (though not much) and children must be supervised, although the garden is quite secure.
