Description

This property oozes warmth and character, benefiting from a cosy wood-burning stove and an enclosed decked garden where squirrels are regular visitors.

In a romantic setting amid stunning scenery, made famous by the BBC’s Monarch of the Glen TV series, these two architect-designed, timber clad, adjoining properties (Baltinna West UTY and Baltinna East SGGW) make a truly tranquil holiday retreat. They can be booked individually or together for two couples, and are set within an enclosed garden, each with its own private sitting-out area. Oozing character and warmth, each have their own charms and both benefit from cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room and sheepskin rugs on oak floors. Nestling between the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountain ranges, Newtonmore is situated in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, a walker’s and birdwatcher’s paradise. Outdoor pursuits found locally include 7 golf courses, fishing on the River Spey, mountain biking, skiing, tours taking in distilleries, RSPB sites, interactive museums, and the towns of Aviemore and Inverness. Shops ¼ mile. Pubs serving very good food within 1 mile. Excellent restaurants locally.

Living room with wood-burning stove, rugs on oak floor and well-equipped, modern fitted kitchen/dining area. Separate toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with feature roll-top bath, wash basin and en-suite shower room (no toilet).

Very cosy cottage. The roll top bath is wonderful. Lots of walks from the door and great fun spotting the wildcats on the way. Hopefully we will be back again.

The cottage is perfectly located, very cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a real get away from it all holiday. Newtonmore is a wonderful village with very helpful and friendly locals and the nearby walks through the glen and alongside the river and gorge are spectacular. Great days out were on the doorstep or within a 90 minute drive with amazing scenery wherever you go. It was my 50th birthday and Diane and Rod very kindly gave me a bottle of fizz and extra dining chairs as we had friends over for dinner one evening.....this was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful. We cannot wait to go back. The roll top bath is a very special treat too. Loved every second and miss being there very much.

Lovely cottage very nice and quite, great log burner for the colder nights, fantastic bath in bedroom, comfy bed but could do with better pillows.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your feedback and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Its so hard to please all of the people all of the time with pillows; some like firm, some very soft etc. We try our best to accommodate everyone by giving a long bolster double pillow on the bed, followed by another pillow each on the bed, plus 2 spares in the wardrobe with extra pillow cases. They are all very regularly replaced too.

Whilst we had a good time at the cottage we were not happy with the cleaning of property. A sliver of soap in downstairs cloakroom with hair on it, half a toilet roll. No decent sponge or washing up brush in kitchen. Crumbs under microwave and in cupboards. Would of been nice to have a few teabags and milk left for us. Wouldn’t call it 4 star.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry that you found the cleaning not as you would have wished - as you can see by our other reviews this is highly unusual for us, we pride ourselves on our extremely high standards and apologies if you feel we let you down. Most people comment that we exceed their expectations for 4 star, and we are often thanked in the reviews for the small extras we leave out like a welcome drink, bath salts, chocolates, complimentary soaps, tea, coffee & milk, cleaning materials like dishwasher tablets and loorolls. Our housekeeper has been with us for several years, and as can be seen below usually receives mostly 10 out of 10 comments. I will of course inspect the property personally at the earliest opportunity. We do leave out a welcome letter with our contacts and would urge anyone to get in touch straight away if anything is not satisfactory.
