Located in the historic Market Town of Saxmundham, Chapel Cottage is a charming one-bedroom cottage that offers the perfect balance of cosy comfort and an unbeatable Suffolk location. Ideal for a single person or couples, this traditional cottage provides a peaceful retreat while placing you within easy reach of the coast, countryside and some of the county’s most loved towns and villages. Inside, Chapel Cottage is thoughtfully arranged to make the most of its space. The sitting room is warm and welcoming, with comfortable seating, TV with Freeview, and DVD/CD player and Wi-Fi, making it an inviting place to relax after a day out exploring. The cottage is fully centrally heated, ensuring year-round comfort, whether you’re visiting in the height of summer or enjoying a quieter off-season break. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a dining table and chairs provide a cosy spot for leisurely breakfasts or relaxed evening meals.
Upstairs, the bedroom has a stunning vaulted ceiling with chandelier and offers a restful space to unwind, complete with bedside tables, chest of drawers and quality bed linen. The bathroom includes a shower, toilet and wash basin, with towels provided for your stay. Immediately outside the front door to the cottage, there is a small, covered alleyway where walkers and birdwatchers can store their outdoor boots and hang wet coats to dry, or cyclists can use as secure and dry storage for up to two bicycles single file. During warmer weather, this little area is provided with a small table and two chairs, offering some outdoor space to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day.
The town of Saxmundham, perfectly positioned for discovering the best of Suffolk, has a long history going right back to the Doomsday Book, and was once on the Coach and horses’ route from London to the coast. Many of the buildings in the ‘old town’ of Saxmundham are from the Georgian period as a result. Today, Saxmundham is a lively and characterful town, with independent shops, Art galleries, cafes and bars. The whole region is a haven for ‘foodies’, and in town you will find a traditional butcher and Artisan bakery, plus the local supermarket - all ideal for stocking up on local produce and other tasty treats, as well as a railway station offering direct links to Ipswich and London Liverpool Street.
Framlingham, with its impressive castle, is close by, as is the musical heritage of Snape Maltings, home to world-class concerts, riverside walks and boat trips along the Alde. The surrounding area is rich in things to see and do. The stunning Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are just a short drive away, with beautiful beaches at Aldeburgh, Southwold, Thorpeness and Dunwich, each offering their own distinct charm. Nature lovers will enjoy nearby RSPB Minsmere, while walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice with scenic countryside routes right on the doorstep. Whether you’re seeking coastal adventures, countryside tranquillity or simply a comfortable base from which to explore Suffolk, Chapel Cottage offers a delightful place to call home during your stay.
This property can be booked with nearby Flint Cottage (UK51343) and Corner Cottage (UK51342) to accommodate groups of up to 10 guests.
