Picture postcard village, with the River Windrush flowing through the centre, the Roman road and Fosse Way cross the area.

Perfect Cotswold location

Conveniently located and within a few minutes’ walk of the centre of the village, this lovely detached holiday house is an ideal base from which to explore and savour the delights of the Cotswolds, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the sparkling and swiftly flowing River Windrush racing through the broad expanse of village green, the ’Venice of the Cotswolds’ as Bourton is referred to, is a treat for visitors no matter what time of year. With its graceful low stone bridges spanning the small river at intervals, the centre of the village is picture postcard perfect throughout the seasons. The Roman road and the Fosse Way, is a major access route running across the area, taking the visitor from Moreton-in-Marsh in the north to Cirencester in the south. Local Bourton attractions include the Model Village, Motor Museum and Birdland. Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Kenilworth castles are all within a comfortable drive, while the beautiful gardens of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor are near beautiful Chipping Campden. Cosy & spotlessly clean accommodation for the first really chilly weekend of the autumn. Very well equipped house, good sized bedrooms all with generous en-suites; good beds & linens. The heating worked well, which isn't always the case with rental properties. Very friendly owners, refreshing lack of house rules. The only reason this is marked down from perfect is that we were slightly disappointed with Bourton-on-the Water itself, which is very "touristy" and compared with other nearby Cotswold villages we've visited such as Burford & Stow. That's not a criticism of the house itself.

Had a lovely weekend with friends. House is good as all rooms en-suite. Furniture comfortable and enough for all. Situated so that you can walk into the town for places to visit and plenty of eating places.

This is a lovely house on the edge of town which is only a 10/15 minute flat walk away. The en suite bedrooms were ideal for our extended family group and we were lucky enough to have great weather so could take advantage of the different seating areas in the mature, wrap around garden and country walks nearby The owners showed us round and made us feel very welcome.

A lovely comfortable house with lots of space for everyone to sit and a well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms were all en suite with good bedding and soft towels. Shower step was a bit high in downstairs shower for my father but he has mobility problems, so would be fine for others. Good to have a downstairs bedroom for him. Really close to the village, 10-15 mins walk. Lots of tea shops and gift shops, co-op excellent but about 20 mins walk. Londis good for a few basics too. Parking right in the village not good but car parks fairly near if needed. Owners very friendly and met us to hand over the keys and show us around.
