4 adults 3kids 2 dogs We’ve just enjoyed a 3 night stay in acorn cottage, it’s so cosy and set in a very private bit of land, the lady who owns the barn is lovely, she rang to meet us there so she could explain how to work everything and showed us all the leaflets, she has some horses that she keeps on the land but unfortunately we didn’t see them as the weather had made the land too wet for them to stay over the weekend, it’s surrounded by beautiful wildlife, we sat and watched the different kinds of birds feeding for ages, it’s in the middle of nowhere and the nearest pub is one mile away which is also an Indian restaurant and takeaway, it’s very good food! The shop is a drive away so go well equipt! We had a drive to York and went to the York dungeons which took about 50 mins the next day we went to brid which took about an hour. The barn is super clean and the beds are very comfortable! There’s a lovely attic room upstairs with dressing room and en-suite with a bath, down stairs a double bedroom and a twin room with a large bathroom! The kitchen is well equipped and there’s an iron upstairs.

On arrival we were delighted with the appearance and location of the cottage. The owner met us with a cup of tea and lots of information. Due to the rural location we used sat nav to find shops and amenities, many of which were several miles away. The cottage suited our requirements and the owner was readily available with info and extra equipment for our large family gathering.

Acorn Barn is a lovely little cottage with an enclosed garden on one side. Three good sized bedrooms (1 upstairs) two good sized bathrooms (1 upstairs) a lounge/dinning room and kitchen. Quietly located down a long track and ideally situated for various places to visit. Really enjoyed our stay would have loved to stay longer but work calls. Only down side is the number of flies constantly in the property and a high number of wasps too!! Managed to contain the wasps outside with a sugary filled bowl. An electric fly zapper would be useful in the kitchen as it was annoying trying to serve food under kitchen roll to stop flies walking on the food.
