Absolutely stunning area to stay in. The Croft was a lovely place to stay. Lots to do around the area with gorgeous beaches. The perfect escape from every day life.

Achd is comfortable, well equipped and beautifully located crofting cottage. You can go down the short track, across the road and then walk for miles in beautifully wild empty Scottish hills with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and coast line. There’s a grocery shop, a bar, and a small craft and coffee shop all within a 15 min walk. A short drives takes you through some of the finest scenery to some of the loveliest beaches in the entire UK. What’s not to like.

The standard ratings on 1-10 scale would totally depend on what a visitor was looking for. We wanted wild, unspoiled, remote, authentic Highland cottage. And we got that. And during a spell of good warm non-rainy weather. But we realise that many would find intolerable what we liked and were fortunate to experience. The single track road access from either Lochinver or Kylesku is also a part of the NC500 motoring/visitor traffic trail - and it requires careful navigation. We didn't find that a particular annoyance, though it did detract from our enjoyment at times - though Achd Cottage is far enough up a very bumpy track (watch your sump if you have a sports car) for that not to be a problem. We completely enjoyed our week. We enjoyed the joke of the shower and settled for comforting baths instead.
