Description

Celebrate a special occasion at this farmhouse, with its own swimming pool, library, games room and large garden.

Set on the owners’ non-working farm in Horbling village, this detached farmhouse, with its own swimming pool, lies in the heart of the Fens, an ideal touring base for visiting the area’s wealth of historic attractions. Providing comfortable holiday accommodation for families, it retains many original features, including exposed woodwork, an ornate cornice in the dining room and a traditional farmhouse-style kitchen. Within easy driving distance are a wealth of interesting places, including the delightful old towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford, full of beautiful stone buildings. On the edge of Stamford stands Burleigh House, one of England’s greatest Elizabethan houses. Abbots Farm was the perfect property for our large family Christmas gathering. The large kitchen is really well equipped with everything you need to cater for a large party. It was also amazing to all be able to sit comfortably around the dining room table in a very impressive room. The open plan games room is located in a separate building adjacent to the property and proved a popular place to go for those of us that wanted to play table tennis and pool. The owners were very welcoming and it was really helpful having a slightly later check out time on our departure date. Thank you for helping us have a wonderful weekend and we would definitely recommend this place to others. We hope to return again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay. Andy was very welcoming and did his utmost to ensure all the guests were warm, particularly in view of the challenges with the boiler. Andy could have explained the password for the internet, the games room, the location of kindling and firelighting equipment. This would have avoided the need to chase for the information. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the facilities. We were made to feel very welcome. When the snow fell on the Sunday Andy offered us the accommodation for an extra night.

Fantastic, well equipped, huge house in walking distance to two lovely pubs (including Sunday lunch). Short of a seat in the front room (bring a beanbag??) but ample space for all around the table- perfect! Lovely, comfy weekend had by all; great for catching up with old friends.

We were a party of 16 having a family gathering for my parents diamond wedding. The farmhouse was large plenty of areas to relax bedrooms were comfortable with towels well stocked with pots pans cutlery serving dishes. Plenty of cupboards to put food in, 2 fridge/freezers 2 ovens. The younger of the party used the swimming pool which was OK. To the delight to some there was sky sports!!! We took a couple of dogs & they loved the large garden to run around in. Also we used the games room which has pool, table football & table tennis which all participated in a table tennis tournament which was great fun. A brilliant weekend had by all.... Previous post have said it's dated & needs a bit of tlc but at the end of the day it's a old farmhouse and it's got character. The village called Billingborough about a mile down the road has a coop fish & chip shop fantastic antique shop book store playground.
