Had an enjoyable week in this comfortable cottage. The owners were very friendly providing a cream tea for our arrival. There are lots of lovely country and coastal walks nearby.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in. It is very dog friendly, spacious and well equipped. The cream tea was much appreciated and the dog biscuits were very thoughtful. The owners were friendly, but not intrusive. The bed was huge and very comfortable. It is more than likely we will stay again.

Twist of Lyme is one of the best cottages we have stayed in! Spotlessly clean and fresh you would never know dogs are allowed so don't let that put you off. The cream tea provided on arrival was most welcome as were the other little extras, will definitely stay again when next visiting the area.

Excellent cottage in a superb location. Despite the heavy snow we were tucked in warm and were well looked after by Matt and Zishan. When the snow cleared we were able to explore the beautiful Jurassic coast. Our dogs Rupert and Maxwell enjoyed it too. Highly recommended.

A very comfortable and welcoming property, the dogs enjoyed their treats and the cream tea was equally popular with us. With the cold weather the cottage was warm and cosy, and although unable to leave on time with the snow,an extra day was no hardship.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks for your review. We’re pleased to hear you were cosy and comfortable whilst the ‘beast from the east’ did its worst. The least we could do was give you an extra day free of charge in the exceptional circumstances - we want our guests to arrive/get home safely and in one piece.

We stayed at A Twist of Lyme for a long weekend in December. There was a lovely welcome basket when we arrived and Matthew & Zishan were great hosts. Fabulous accommodation in a great location. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again.

The property was very well equipped - especially the bathroom and kitchen - and the bed was large and very comfortable. In terms of location the property is within 10 miles of a number of different and excellent beaches which was important for us as we had a dog. The local pub - the Hunters Lodge - is dog friendly and only a 10 minute walk away. The road to the pub is quite busy and has no street lighting, but the owners of the Twist of Lyme supply a torch if you don't have one. The owners supplied an excellent welcome pack including cakes and are there to help, but are not intrusive.

A very lovely little house. We enjoyed a very cosy break here and spent a lovely 5 days exploring Devon and Dorset, for which this was a lovely base. Inside the house is fantastic and had everything we needed and more!

This was a clean, well-equipped cottage. The bedroom was very large and the sloping walls weren't an issue. Even when laid in bed, we at first worried that we might wake in the night and bump our heads, but this really wasn't a problem. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was warm and quiet at night. The bathroom had a nicely sized free-standing shower cubicle. I think it was heated by an electric heater, so it produced decently hot water. The water pressure was middling, so don't expect to have the very best shower experience you have ever had. The bath was a somewhat smaller than normal size - so don't expect to be able to lie out straight. There was plenty of hot water although the low-ish water pressure did mean that it took quite a long time to fill the bath. The kitchen had appliances in good working order and we felt that we had all of the kitchen utensils that we needed. The property was lovely and warm. The central heating was good. However, a small heater in the lounge came on immediately at the touch of a button, which was handy on the one evening when it was quite a bit colder. We were allowed to bring our dog. However, there is a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs and we were told that dogs were not allowed upstairs into the bedroom. So you may want to bear this in mind if you are used to having your dog with you all of the time. Zishan who dealt with us was friendly and helpful. We drove, so it was no problem to get to Lyme Regis and other locations in the area. However, I didn't feel that this was a cottage that was particularly well-situated if we had not had the car with us; we've stayed in other cottages where there were more shops, cafes and pubs in the vicinity.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to give a thorough review on A Twist of Lyme - I'm sure potential guests will find it very informative. We would echo the sentiments you raise about ensuring that guests read the information about the cottage, the location and Cottages.com pet policy, as not only will you know what to expect when you arrive but it will help you get the most from your stay. We worked with Cottages.com to ensure the write up was absolutely accurate. Thank you also for the many compliments. Just to address the few issues you raised: there is already a pump installed to increase the hot water pressure, which upon checking after reading your review, is in full working order and the pressure is quite high, so to increase it further would be a potential hazard. We are best described as semi-rural and not in a village/town location, which most of our guests love! Nevertheless, we have a pub, post office and general store in walking distance. We also have bus services at the end of the road which take you into Lyme Regis or Axminster and from there you can get to many other places via bus or train, so you are not forced to drive. Up to date timetables are in the cottage. As your stay was booked very last minute, it may be that you were unable to do the research on a location that was more suitable to your needs.

Our second visit to A Twist of Lyme. Great welcome from Zishan and good to chat to Matt when we saw him. A lovely little cottage with all you could wish for in terms of home comforts. This is a great area to visit and we'd recommend it to anyone.
