This former Lakeland Hotel was converted, refurbished and upgraded into self catering apartments. Situated in the centre of Portinscale, a peaceful village one mile from Keswick, which has a village store with tea room (seasonal opening hours), The Farmers Arms Pub, restaurant and two Marinas. There is a footpath to both the lake and into Keswick that has many more amenities. Harney Peak is ideally situated to explore this beautiful part of the lakes either on foot or by car.

We have stayed here many times over the years, however is it is in need of of an update now looking a bit tired and dated. Also the recent price increase makes it a less attractive proposition.

Very spacious apartment that is well equipped. It is less than a mile walk from Keswick town centre and right on the Cumbria Way.

A comfortable flat for 4 people, with the advantage of parking spaces, and a short walk into the town of Keswick. We thought it expensive, but we were visiting in high season, of course. A small point, but Cumbrian Cottages have pictures of the flat on their site, including two pictures of a garden - this is slightly misleading, because we were disappointed to find no such garden space on site. Altogether, however, it was a very pleasant place to stay, and we were grateful to Cumbrian Cottages for their help.
