Enjoy a peaceful holiday from this apartment, with the beach just 3 miles away and plenty of walks to enjoy in the area.

On the outskirts of Hastings, just a short drive from the beach and in a quiet residential area overlooking leafy woodland is this holiday apartment, below the owner’s home, accessed via a flight of steps. Visit Battle Abbey created by William the Conqueror. Battle is also home to the Battel Bonfire Boyes, the oldest Bonfire Society in Sussex, see one of the unique bonfire parades in the Autumn which remembers Guy Fawkes. In the opposite direction, visit Rye with its cobbled streets and in February experience Rye Bay scallop week. There are lots of walks and cycle trails in this 1066 country, plus good rail connections from Battle and Hastings to London for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    Lovely location, great size rooms, clean and lovely hot tub. We couldn’t access all sky channels and bbq was dirty and mouldy.

    I would normally put the positives first, but as I feel we've been had right over, I'll do it the other way round. I booked the Harbour Lodge for a few days before my wife went into hospital. On the website it stated that there was 'building work going on next door'. As they are detached properties we did think it would be a problem. On our arrival we found that it was their property above which was having building work, not next door at all. I put this to Michael on our arrival, but he blamed it on the company I booked through. I had spoken to the owners by Text a couple of days earlier, but even though they knew the info was wrong, they failed to mention it to us. The place was (is) a Building site. Scaffolding erected all round, building materials everywhere and a skip sitting on one of the Parking spaces, meaning there wasn't even one whole parking space to use. It was (is) not a fit place to be open as a Holiday apartment. The main attraction of this place is the Hot Tub, which Michael showed us straight away. We were instructed to keep an eye on it as there was a problem with it, which meant that the pump motor kept stopping. We were asked to keep turning it on when it did so. As I'm sure you're aware, a Hot Tub without the water being circulated, means it's going to go stagnant. Which it had obviously started to do, because it smelt. My wife wouldn't get in it. If you are due to go and stay here, I advise you to take; Earplugs - The owner live above and I don't think they've got carpet. You can hear them clomping around on the floor above. When they are watching TV in the Living Room it's very loud in the en-suite Bedroom below. Oven dishes - The Oven is fine, but there's only one large cumbersome metal cooking tray. We went out and bought another one to use while we were there. A hard hat and old clothes. There are bits of scaffolding stucking out and building materials everywhere. On the positive side, it's clean and tidy and apart from oven dishes, fairly well equipped.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Firstly we would like to apologise that these guests didn’t enjoy their stay at Harbour Lodge. First impressions are always the most lasting and to arrive to see some of the house swathed in scaffolding would have been a surprise as the expectation was to see the building works next door, however, had they been next door no consideration would have been given to our guests regarding noise. No building works were carried out during their stay. The scaffolding was erected by a professional company and meets all the health and safety requirements and is temporary. The Agency had reassured us on several occasions that they had amended their mistake and were now specifying that the building work was indeed at 38 Harbour Way and not next door but unfortunately this was still not the case, unbeknown to us. With regards to the hot tub, unfortunately mechanical equipment can go wrong and one of the pumps of which there are three (two were still fully functional) had just started to develop an intermittent problem. It was pointed out at the start of their stay that an engineer wasn’t available for a few days, but so as not for them to be disappointed, we suggested they could manually turn it on. This was their choice as we make it clear that the hot tub is used at your own discretion. The hot tub is checked and maintained daily at our guest’s convenience. Our policy is that we want our guests to be happy and we really hope they enjoy their stay so there are several numbers for us to be contacted on if there are any queries which are clearly visible on the front of the welcome folder or we are more than happy for guests to knock on our door.

    Lovely apartment, had every thing you could need in it. Very clean and well presented, owners had even left us some milk and a few welcome snacks!!!

    Excellent accommodation. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and well equipped with a beautiful outside space and a hot tub in the summer house which is most welcome after a day out sightseeing! The location is perfect for accessing many of the coastal and inland places in the area. The owners are most welcoming and available should the need arise. We can highly recommend this property.
