We've launched a Cottages app in ChatGPT

What’s your ideal cottage?

Planning a UK break usually starts the same way, doesn’t it? You’ve got a few ideas, a little wishlist… and before you know it, you’ve got what feels like 27 tabs open and you’re still trying to pin down exactly what you’re looking for.

We thought there should be an easier way to get started.

That’s why we’ve launched the new Cottages app inside ChatGPT, designed to help you search and shortlist UK cottages simply by chatting. Tell us what you’re looking for in your own words, whether it’s “dog-friendly by the sea” or “cosy countryside escape with a hot tub,” and you’ll see options with live availability and up-to-date pricing.

And when you’ve found “the one”? We’ll take you straight to cottages.com to complete your booking, with all your details ready to go.

Less tab overload, more holiday excitement.

What you can do with the app?

Once you’re connected, you can ask ChatGPT for cottages just like you’d ask a friend.

You might ask:

  • Dog-friendly coastal cottage with a hot tub, 3 nights in April

  • Countryside retreat near great walking routes, sleeps 6 in August

  • Family-friendly stay near Cornwall with parking and a pub nearby in may

Just tell us what you have in mind, in your own words.

You’ll get tailored results pulled from real, live availability, not vague ideas or generic inspiration, so the places you’re seeing are actually ready to book.

You can explore further using the map to find the spot that feels just right, and ask ChatGPT more about the property or the local area to help you decide. It’s all about making that “this is the one” moment easier to reach.

How to use it (step by step)

Because this is early access, there’s a quick one-time step to connect the app the first time you use it. As we continue to improve the experience, this may become simpler, or might not be needed at all, but for now it helps us roll things out safely, learn from real use, and make it even better for you. Here’s how to get started:

1. Open ChatGPT

Head to ChatGPT on mobile or web and sign in to your account.
(If you’re using the app, make sure you’ve updated to the latest version.)

2. Go to “Apps”

You’ll find this in the left-hand menu.

3. Search for “Cottages”

Look for the official Cottages app listing and select it.

4. Tap “Connect”

This is just a one-time step during early access.
There’s nothing extra you need to share. Simply connect and start chatting!

Find and book

5. Start chatting about your trip

Once you’re connected, just start chatting about your plans. Tell us where you’d like to go, when you’re thinking of travelling, and anything that matters to you, whether that’s bringing the dog, soaking in a hot tub, step-free access, or space for the whole family.

The more you share, the better we can tailor the results to you.

6. Shortlist, then book on cottages.com

When you’ve found a favourite (or a few), you can click through to see the full property details and complete your booking on cottages.com.

Simple, seamless, and one step closer to your getaway.

Why did we build this?

More and more people are turning to AI tools for travel inspiration. And while that spark of inspiration is exciting, it only really helps if it connects to places you can actually book.

We built this app to bridge that gap, bringing real, live holiday cottage availability into the conversation, while keeping your booking journey clear, secure and firmly on cottages.com.

As our CEO, Matthew Price, explains:

“AI is changing how customers discover and book holidays… Launching inside ChatGPT means we can now do this for customers with an easy-to-use, conversational tool that feels a lot like talking about your next stay with a friend or relative.”

Most importantly, we’re a holiday company first and foremost. If you ever need a hand, there’ll always be a real person at the end of the phone.

The technology is here to make planning your break smoother and simpler, not to replace the human support we’re proud to offer.
