Newquay has a great selection of beaches and is widely considered ‘the surf centre’ of Europe; providing perfect cottage breaks for both families and action-packed holidays.
The town attracts both families and the surfing community who come here for its beautiful beaches and safe seas. In fact there are 11 beaches in the area to choose from and if you’re a surfing novice or just fancy a go, there are numerous ''surf schools'' to teach you the basics.
Visitors here will find a lively, buzzing atmosphere, with plenty of places to eat and drink, lots of family attractions as well as a great nightlife. Follow the town trail to get to know the town’s heritage and transformation from fishing village to surf mecca.
Apart from surfing try your hand at coasteering, abseiling or rock climbing; tuition is available locally or for more relaxed exercise follow the South Coast Path for great sea views. Maybe hop on one of the boats that in the summer months take visitors on full day and half day trips along the magnificent coastline.
Young families are well catered for; Holywell Bay Fun Park offers a good value day out with the kids; there''s free entry and free parking as it operates a ''pay as you play'' system or head to the Blue Reef Aquarium to see marine wildlife up close, or of course you could see Cornish marine life in its natural habitat on a sea safari. Relaxing family fun can be found at the Trenance boating lake at Trenance Park which offers 26 acres of gardens and recreation.
