This cosy holiday property has an interesting and eclectic mix of styles and is situated in the heart of the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune. The house was originally built as a barn in the 19th century and retains many rustic features. The village is set at the foot of the Howgills, which form a triangle of mountains between the communities of Sedbergh, Ravenstonedale and Tebay. The Howgills make for excellent walking terrain. Wainwright considered them some of his favourites. They are still relatively undiscovered, and you can walk here for miles without seeing another soul. The location is ideally placed for exploring both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Shop and restaurant 5 miles, pubs 1½ miles.

Well equipped house, nice quiet location. Plenty of space and very clean. Useful to access the Dales as its location means you can access the north, central and western sides easily. Owner and neighbour very communicative and helpful. The small points that would improve are changing the uncomfortable lounge furniture, sealing off the smelly oil heating system and having a clearer uncluttered instruction book.

Full of character. Excellent kitchen. Wood burning stove with wood provided, although the central heating more than adequate. Well located to visit the lakes or explore the dales. Places worth visiting nearby and good walking.
