Betws-y-Coed is slightly further afield. Medieval Powys Castle (National Trust) in Welshpool is a 30-minute drive and has a world-famous garden, or visit the charming town of Montgomery, a 45-minute drive, which offers beautiful scenery and walks. The west Wales coastline is around an hours’ drive with sandy beaches. Beautifully rebuilt barn incorporating top quality modern facilities. Location is excellent for country views, peace and rural tranquility. Perfect for two couples or, like us, a couple enjoying a chilled out week. Hot tub was great and welcome at the end of a day's walking. Location is reached via a single track Road, but traffic very light. John and Hilary made us very welcome.

What an (all too brief) stay! Absolutely stunning scenery, exceptionally clean and well appointed cottage, what's not to like? Lorraine and Des were fantastic, coming to rescue us from the depths of the countryside when our satnav had a mental breakdown. We loved sitting outside for breakfast watching the Buzzards getting airborne at the end of the valley, then working their way along towards and past us. In the hot tub at night with a bottle of wine looking at the fantastic backdrop of a star filled sky, that's what I call a mini break. Arrived Friday night totally stressed, left Monday totally chilled. We will definitely be returning and have told friends and family to get on and book a break for themselves too.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your lovely feedback on the cottage and spreading the word to your friends and family. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to destress after your stressful Friday night journey. We are looking forward to welcoming you back next March.

A nicely appointed and laid out cottage. Great views from the lounge plus bedrooms. Hot tub was lovely but a covering of some description would have made it more suitable to all weather use. Advisable to stock up on essentials en route to the cottage as local shops are scarce. Nice location for visiting Lake Vyrnwy and its superb walks, even in the snow. Hosts very helpful. On arrival the property was both clean and warm and the Welsh cakes were a nice touch. A lovely holiday was had by the whole family and the break from work was indeed very welcome. Binoculars would have be usefull as buzzards and red kites were a constant sight over the valley.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your lovely feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your holiday and the local walks.

The cottage was a wonderful place to relax, it was in a beautiful setting overlooking fields hills and mountains. Inside the cottage was beautiful with everything you needed. The cottage has high quality fixtures and fittings and as we are used to this at home it was nice to go somewhere with the same finish. As we stayed over Christmas the owner's where away and a lovely couple where looking after it they we're very welcoming and helpful. The owner's had left a welcome hamper which was a delightful surprise. The only issue we had was that the T.V. was a very slim light model and was sat on a small unit right by the sliding door and a gust of wind actually knocked it over and broke it. This happened on Christmas day we informed the people who where managing the cottage and they assured us not to worry as they where sure the owner's would understand and they were certain the owner's would have insurance to refund us. We informed them we would replace it on boxing day as we would have no T.V. for the duration of the holiday which was for a further 3 days. We found the exact same model and replaced it gave the receipt and the broken T.V. to pass over to the owner's with a suggestion that the T.V. needed to be fixed to something as it was unstable where it was placed. We have yet to receive any contact or reimbursement from the owner's regarding this. Overall the cottage is amazing and the owner's attention to detail is wonderful. Hot tub is a welcoming addition to the cottage after long walks. Would definitely return.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind comments and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay over Christmas. We were sorry to hear about the mishap with the TV, which has now been resolved.

Lovely cottage, not much around unless you are a big walker. Beautiful countryside around with amazing views from the cottage. Would be nice to have a fee more games/books: dvds for those rainy days or maybe a pullout shelter for the hot tub. But otherwise brilliant

Absolutely delightful! The cottage was so well equipped enabling us to make our own meals, and the extras that the owners, Hilary and John, supplied (milk, butter, delicious Welsh cakes, fresh eggs amongst other bits & bobs, even down to washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and tea towel!!) were such a thoughtful added extra. The interior design of the cottage was exceptional and of an extremely high standard and of course the fabulous hot tub was amazing with outstanding views! I really couldn't find one single fault and will definitely be returning (for longer next time). Excellent!!
