Clean, spacious accommodation set right on Windermere lake side with stunning views and a private jetty.

Aptly named, Waterhead Studio is set right on the shore of, and with superb views across Lake Windermere. Apart from the small lake frontage, guests also benefit from a balcony, boat storage area and shared use of a jetty. On the southern outskirts of Ambleside, just ¼ mile from Waterhead, where you can take cruises down the lake. The visitor centre at Brockhole, with its 30 acres of award-winning gardens and grounds, is a great place for a trip to this beautiful area. Home to a series of trails, walks, events and activities, it also has an information centre where you can find out all about the local attractions. Close by are Hawkshead and Grasmere. Both villages are inextricably linked to the romantic poet William Wordsworth. Historians and Wordsworth fans alike will find a visit to either Dove Cottage or Rydal Mount an interesting diversion. Wordsworth is not the only literary connection here; both John Ruskin and Beatrix Potter also lived nearby, Ruskin at Brantwood on the shores of Coniston Water, and Beatrix Potter at Hill Top (NT) at Far Sawrey. There are many ways to explore this often frequented area and each visitor chooses his own path, by foot, mountain bike, car, boat or even horse. An ideal holiday base. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with patio doors. Kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 2 twin. Bathroom with toilet. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 1 twin bedroom with additional bunk. Bathroom with toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity and bed linen included. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi.Telephone-incoming and emergency calls only. Balcony. Boat storage area and shared jetty. Parking (2 cars). Couples and family bookings only. NB: There is a small piece of lake frontage. There is a low storage area under the house. No smoking.

Ideally situated, spacious, warm and comfortable with spectacular views. A beautiful place to spend a family Christmas. We arrived to find a Christmas tree in the living room - a thoughtful touch. The house was well equipped although some things such as cutlery and glass ware were a bit of a hotch potch. While downstairs was very smart and new, upstairs showed signs of wear. That said, we would certainly return and would not hesitate in recommending this property

Fifth time here, and there'll be a sixth. It doesn't get much better.

A lovely place to stay, right on the lake, we enjoyed walking from the balcony straight into the lake. A ten minute walk from Ambleside town centre, although the YHA adjacent to the property offers good food and also within a two minutes walk is the Waterhead Inn, again good food and drink available. The property offers parking for two cars but can accommodate three at a pinch. It offers four bedrooms with two bathrooms and a shower room. All clean and tidy upon arrival. My only reservation is that the property is starting to show signs of wear, not surprising for a holiday home, but it is starting to need some decorating and some TLC in some areas. However, this is a minor issue when taking into account the lovely accommodation as a whole. Would I stay there again? Without hesitation I can say yes.

Fantastic location, with a fabulous view from the lounge at the rear of the property. Well stocked with books, and equipment for video etc,for the bad weather. This cottage is value for money for 6 plus people, as the rental cost is too high for any less. The outside of the cottage needs tidying up,paintwork and gardening, and getting rid of debris from the lake washed up on the boatshore. This would help with the first impression on arrival.

4th stay at this house as it is now our second home. Cannot pick a better location than this one being right on the lake and a two minute walk to where the boats leave. There has been some minor improvements such as new internal doors and flooring which is nice to see as some of the property was starting to look a little dated. Managed to squeeze 4 small cars on the drive which was a bonus as the nearest car park would have been £30 for the week or £5 a day next door. The only feedback I could give which could help is that the fire escape window in the bedroom was not locked and the only key we could find was within the emergency glass box which you had to smash. We had a small child staying in this room who could have accessed the window so it may be worth adding this to the checklist of items in-between stays to make sure this is locked. This did not affect our stay in anyway as we made extra precautions for her safety but wouldn't want this to ruin anyone else stay in this beautiful house. Will hopefully return next year.
