Description

Clean, spacious accommodation set right on Windermere lake side with stunning views and a private jetty.

Aptly named, Waterhead Studio is set right on the shore of, and with superb views across Lake Windermere. Apart from the small lake frontage, guests also benefit from a balcony, boat storage area and shared use of a jetty. On the southern outskirts of Ambleside, just ¼ mile from Waterhead, where you can take cruises down the lake. The visitor centre at Brockhole, with its 30 acres of award-winning gardens and grounds, is a great place for a trip to this beautiful area. Home to a series of trails, walks, events and activities, it also has an information centre where you can find out all about the local attractions. Close by are Hawkshead and Grasmere. Both villages are inextricably linked to the romantic poet William Wordsworth. Historians and Wordsworth fans alike will find a visit to either Dove Cottage or Rydal Mount an interesting diversion. Wordsworth is not the only literary connection here; both John Ruskin and Beatrix Potter also lived nearby, Ruskin at Brantwood on the shores of Coniston Water, and Beatrix Potter at Hill Top (NT) at Far Sawrey. There are many ways to explore this often frequented area and each visitor chooses his own path, by foot, mountain bike, car, boat or even horse. An ideal holiday base. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

Sixth time here - which sort of speaks for itself. This place is pretty hard to beat. We brought a little boat with an outboard motor so we were able to make full use of the jetty and the boat house underneath. Only disappointment this year was the cancellation of the free passes to the nearby leisure centre. But it's still a great place for a family holiday across the generations.

View was beautiful, but obscured upstairs because of the failed double glazed unit. This also let in sound so you could hear the traffic noise at night. Also it was quite bad driving off the drive onto the main road as traffic wouldn't give way & visibility was bad. The wifi was intermittent too. Great speed, when it worked, unfortunately not often enough. These were the only bad points. The view was fantastic from downstairs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback, We had tried to replace the window early in the year but were unable to, it will be replaced in October, and you do have a valid point, however we do feel the front windows are nothing to do with the noise as it overlooks the lake and not the road and it may have been the Velux windows that were open. The property does go onto a main road, this is the first time anyone has raised this, we do find there isn’t that much traffic noise at night despite the main road. The Wi-Fi is usually fast and has not been mentioned before. If you had informed me of this, I could have contacted our internet provider to check.

We had a lovely time as always (this was our 4th visit) and everything was great. However we're having to rethink our plans for next year because of the price, particularly during or near school holidays. One of my granddaughters is now at school and the youngest will be starting next year so we can't go during term time and it's too expensive during the school holidays. It's a pity because we love it

For a property of this quality it was disappointing not to have a hair drier. There was an excess of cooking pans but shortage of large baking dishes. There kitchen cupboard doors are starting to come apart as is the bank of the wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom. We had good weather and enjoyed swimming off the jetty. We had

Great stay for the second time at the Waterhead Studio. Our only critisism would be that the owner needs to spend a little money to give it some tlc. The views from the property are beautiful but from the bedroom upstairs the views are distorted as the seal on the double glazed window is faulty and full of condensation. Also the outside balcony is in need of painting as the paint is coming off in places.

Ideally situated, spacious, warm and comfortable with spectacular views. A beautiful place to spend a family Christmas. We arrived to find a Christmas tree in the living room - a thoughtful touch. The house was well equipped although some things such as cutlery and glass ware were a bit of a hotch potch. While downstairs was very smart and new, upstairs showed signs of wear. That said, we would certainly return and would not hesitate in recommending this property
