Had I been about ten years younger, I would certainly not have had the difficulties I experienced. Whilst this is a lovely away from it all accommodation, there are minor obstacles for those of us with less mobility than most. The bath would have benefitted from a safety rail, just to aid in the getting in and out of the shower (which is over the bath). Also a slip mat in the bath would have been most welcome, as we get older we aren't so steady on our feet when there is little or no grip beneath them. Whilst there are no difficult steps within the cottage, there are some outdoors. There are four leading up from the drive to the path into the garden, sadly no handrail so you have to fumble amongst the plants to hold onto the metal railing that protects the plants. For the able bodied, there are two or three little steps, which would not present a problem if the security light came on when the gate was opened, this would light the way to the doorway. As it is the sensor is aimed at the centre of the lawn, and as the path is against the wall the light does not come on until you reach the door, by which time you have tripped over the two steps you couldn't see. The heating would appear to be controlled by the main house, and whilst it did come on late evening, I was not very well one day and I would have preferred a bit more warmth than the two electric fan heaters could provide. The living and dining area is located in a conservatory type extension, lots of glass, which does heat up very quickly on a warm day, but not when it is wet and miserable outside. OK that is the down side to the property, now the positive side. The owners are warm and friendly and obviously lead very busy lives, as we hardly saw them. The beds are full doubles and are comfortable. The décor is clean and fresh and has a modern look. The kitchen is well-fitted with fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer microwave, cooker, toaster and plenty of equipment to enable you to make meals. The property itself is located in a very quiet area, if walking is your thing, there is plenty of that to do, although if you go out walking in the evening, be aware that some of the road users do like to speed down those quiet roads (my husband and dog had quite a scare one evening). We booked Ty Canol in the hope of a very quiet away from it all break. We weren't disappointed, a short drive to the pub where the food is good - although we weren't impressed with the hotel on the corner in the opposite direction to the village. We had a wonderful week exploring the parts of Anglesey and North Wales that we haven't seen for over 20 years, it was good to go back. Talking of going back, I think we will be visiting Ty Canol again - soon.
