Had a good weeks break, unable to do much walking as fields were wet, good old UK weather. Still lots to see and do once you do your homework. The donkey sanctuary In Sidmouth is a must. Most of the local pubs are dog friendly.

An idyllic spot from which we explored Somerset, Devon and Wiltshire. Our second trip to the cottage and it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to go back.....

This cottage is located in a very rural location approached via one track lanes. It is a nice sized cottage with lovely gardens and it is in a very quiet lane, nearest pub/shop 1.5 miles away, shop is not very well stocked. There were a couple of things that could have been better, the TVs is on the wall above the fireplace and it gives you a sore neck looking up at it, and there were no soft drink glasses so you had to use a mug. WIFI IS A MUST. Especially being stuck out in the sticks and trying to look for things to do in the area. The mobile phone reception is a bit hit and miss to. So not very good if you need to get in touch with anyone whilst you are away. The main issue we had was the noise from the next door neighbours, they have young children and wooden floors and at time the telly shook, so be prepared.

Owners were not available until last day of stay. Dishwasher was not working and hot tap in kitchen was leaking. Location, house and facilities were good. Garden well kept. The key safe was difficult to open for older people and we were not happy that there was no point of contact to get us into the cottage after a long drive. After 10 mins managed to get key safe open.

Lovely property with a huge garden, perfect for kids to play in. Don't be concerned that the property welcomes dogs as we saw no evidence of 4 legged friends and everything was very clean. If you can't live without the internet though look elsewhere as there's no WiFi and mobile reception is patchy at best and not really good enuf for any kind of data connection . that being said we had a lovely week. On a side note a baby gate between the living room into the kitchen would have been nice.

The lead question at the start of this review is ''would you stay at this cottage again''? - my reply is ''no'', but that has nothing to do with the cottage, and far more to do with my opinion that life is to short to keep going back to the same place time and time again(!), next time I will be going to a different cottage in a new place. I do feel a little sorry for the owners that the things people moan that are missing from this cottage are not things that its advertised as having - wifi being the main one (no it dose not have wifi and no one said it did!) I scored it down on comfort and equipment as the sofa is horrible and the kitchen is missing a few items (not least pint glasses). The whole cottage needs depersonalising, all old knick knacks need removing, both bedrooms need modernising and pigs/ dogs removed Cleanliness - on the face of it it is very well cleaned, but did spot a few cobwebs. But on the whole and seeing as dogs are welcome guests, its cleaned to a good standard Location - the cottage is where it says it is (!!) what more can I say(?!)
