Great location with lovely view. Dining in kitchen absolutely fine for 2 but would be snug for 4 large adults. Nicely furnished and welcoming. Only thing unexpected was charge for car park - now £45 for the week. (Don't panic if you see the figure of over £90 quoted on the car park noticeboard). May be worth looking at alternative car parks.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you very much for your kind comments and feedback - we hope you had a wonderful stay. The cottage's location on the coast path means parking is not available directly outside unfortunately - however there are five pay and display car parks within walking distance. We took over ownership of the cottage this summer and have since asked 'Cottages 4 You' to include parking information in the confirmation details sent to guests before arrival. Parking prices fluctuate but the cheapest long stay parking we've found is in the Harbour Car park (on the other side of the harbour, facing the cottage) @ £30 per week (prices correct at time of writing).

The view from the front bedroom was great but I regret to say that it was very much downhill from there (and I'm not talking about the steep path down to the harbour). Apart from the two front rooms the property is very dark and cramped, the furnishings are quite worn and several things were in need of repair. There is also a very serious damp problem to the extent that we had to keep our clothes in suitcases. Our biggest complaint however was only discovered on our last morning when we stripped the sheets from our bed. The state of the mattress protector was disgusting, if we had noticed it sooner we would have moved to other accommodation.

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for your recent feedback and taking the time to share your experience. Sorry to hear that we fell short on certain points - I will do my best to address them in turn. Regarding the back of the house being dark and cramped, the footprint is in keeping with cottage dimensions and a property of this age (circa 215 years old). The layout is also typical of its original use as a fisherman's cottage. Regarding the state of the furnishings, we purchased the property this summer so inherited these - whilst many items are 'Laura Ashley' and the property is generally furnished to a very high standard, we're also aware that certain items are showing sign of wear and tear - we intend replacing these as soon as possible (the cottage has been fully booked since we took over). Regarding your concerns about damp, the property underwent a full renovation (including damp course installation and weather proofing) three years ago; however the cottage's location overlooking the harbour on the coast path, does mean it's prone to the elements i.e. sea spray and salt water - so sometimes moisture in the atmosphere. Any damp is also consistent with a property of this age. Since your review we've purchased a dehumidifier, when wet weather conditions prevail. We were very concerned to hear your feedback regarding the mattress protector - thank you for letting us know. We have spoken to the cleaners and, on this occasion, it appears the usual high standards we strive to uphold were not maintained. Mattress protectors are included in the cleaning checklist, completed every changeover. We thank you for your honest feedback and sorry to hear that you didn't have a better experience.

We booked a holiday for our family at tranquillity cottage for Christmas 2014. Unfortunately if we had been told how hard it is to get to we would not of booked it. You either can find the terrace above it and walk down a muddy winding path or try and park on the harbour somewhere and walk the very steep incline with a week worth of belongings and 3 children including a toddler it was not easy. Anyways, the cottage itself is beautiful but being a fishermans cottage it was a tad too small for us. It is decorated beautifully and has everything you could possibly need including dozens of towels!! The view from the main bedroom is gorgeous and you could find yourself sat there just gazing out for ages. And the cream tea left out for us upon arrival is really appreciated after a 4 hour journey :) There were some bad points however; The dvd player did not work. The X box came out in black and white. And there were some cleanliness issues inc thick cobwebs above the stairs and the main bedroom, and we found an old watch, a sock, Vaseline tub and a set of headphones on and under furniture. For the money we paid we were a little disappointed.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that you had some problems, Fisherman’s Cottages are known to being small but very comfortable. As stated in our description of our property the parking is 400 yards from the property. Thank you for your kind comments about our property and commenting on the views which are spectacular. We take pride in our cleanliness , as we normally do the cleans our self however on this occasion we hired a cleaning company and apologise that this was not up to our standards as well as yours. This matter was addressed and thank you for bring this to our attention. We are sorry to hear the DVD player was not working, if this had of been mentioned during your stay we would have been happy to replace or try to fix this. With regards to the X box this may have occurred due to the DVD player, but once again thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.
