Unfortunately its close proximity to Grangemouth Refinery & a land fill site, spoils what would be a stunning location. (Note to self - always check Google Earth before booking) We also found the showers and lounge suite not up to the standard that we would expect for the rate charged.

Beautifully presented and equipped accommodation with fantastic views across the rapids. The sound of the water is with you all the time, for us very calming. Quiet secluded location also really suited us.

Peaceful and in a beautiful location. The property was very well equipped and felt very welcoming. The owner was always on hand to answer any of our questions, was friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant stay helped by excellent weather. Ideally placed for exploring south Scotland and we are happy to recommend it.

we were looking forward to our stay ,the view was lovely, we thought it was very overpriced for what we greeted with, we weren't expecting to clean, it was very basic ,The towels smelt as though they had been stored near someone who heavily smoked l had to wash before use we only had a hand towel and shower towel ,we had to use for hot tub as well ,it was too hot in the hot tub ,it needed to be cooler, no oven gloves or tongs to get anything off grill ,there was an cucumber l found in fridge tucked at the back which had been there some time due to the leakage of it when found what it was ,I had to clean the balcony furniture before we could sit on it ,and sweep the floor, there was no BBQ, sorry but l need people to be aware, good job l took cleaning stuff of my own

Response on behalf of the owner; I am very disappointed to read the review as I have received numerous cards from people that have stayed in the Wheelhouse thanking me for providing such a lovely property. When guests are shown into the Wheelhouse I stress to them that if there are any problems or concerns to let me know during your stay and not wait until you return home as by that time I am unable to rectify the problem. The property was inspected by Cottages4You’s regional manager in October and we have maintained our 4 star rating. The property is very well furnished. The property is also cleaned to a very high standard before every new customer arrives so I am shocked that you felt that it had to be cleaned before you could stay. There has been a problem with the hot-tub control panel. A new one was fitted at the start of this year but it is now not working properly and another has been ordered. We do not advertise or provide a BBQ is as it cannot be used on the veranda.
