Lovely location, nice and quiet, newest easily accessible. Cottage badly in need of a refurb, downstairs shower room needs a deep clean and bathroom upstairs has had a leak( advised by owner before arrival) but also floor has broken tile and floorboard in doorway. Bedrooms clean and comfortable. Downstairs lounge very shabby and storage heaters poor one did not work at all. Front door has several cracks and is very drafts. Kitchen equipment Ok.

The whole property needs updating and refurbishing. The cleanliness of the pool was a bit disappointing. Overall though you get what you pay for and you can't argue that it's a very cheap price for a cottage in the country. It's also good in terms of easy access to countryside, the local vineyard and Gloucester.

Lovely quiet and pretty location, plenty of space but shabby and old furniture and fittings. 1 shower (with the fridge) next to kitchen not sufficient for up to 8 people. Bath upstairs. Small tv and issues with the internet not always available with some equipment. The cottage needs some serious refurbishment. A smell in the largest bedroom was unpleasant. But despite that we loved our stay.

In a nice location easy for visiting parts of the Forest of Dean, but the cottage is very run down and in need of a lot of work. Fortunately two of our group dropped out so there were only four people, but this still proved a bit of a logistical nightmare as there is only one shower and it is downstairs. The 'instructions' for staying in the cottage are numerous and bordering on rude.

House is tired, needs plates that fit dishwasher, another shower, and not sure about fridge in toilet. The saving grace is the pool and tennis court, all staff friendly and really helpful.

Owner is a wonder man, location fabulous and facilities where brilliant, old fashioned decor but we felt that added to character!!

The housekeeper was very helpful, but the overall facilities were generally poorly maintained, especially toilets and bathrooms. Insufficient for a large family staying there.

We enjoyed our weekend stay at The Old Granary but it is in need of a little TLC. The lock on the bathroom door didn't work and we were unable to use the swimming pool. The taps on the bath didn't work either so we were reliant on the one downstairs shower for all 6 of us . It was ok for a friends weekend away but would have been disappointing for an annual family holiday. It wouldn't take much to sort these issues out. The setting and area are lovely. We very much enjoyed sitting in the garden and a trip to the Bird of Prey Centre which you can walk to from the cottage following a footpath across fields.

This property is fine, but it could be great with a bit more effort/investment from the owners. The building itself is cute and full of character, and it's very cosy inside, but the decor, furnishings and equipment are tired and outdated. A few of specific issues for us: - The BBQ was a bit rubbish so we ended up buying disposable ones from the supermarket - The initial advertisement states the pool is available all year round (which is one of the reasons why I chose it) but that turned out not to be the case once we proceeded further with the booking, which we were bit disappointed with - One shower in a property advertised for 8 people is a bit ridiculous, especially with the shower being downstairs - another shower in the upstairs bathroom would make a huge difference - It's also a bit weird and inconvenient that the fridge gets locked in the bathroom if you need to shut the door - surely another door could be put in!? - We had a few issues with the log burner - the logs we had were damp and we had trouble getting the fire going, which left us a bit chilly on the first night - One of the plug sockets in the living room was a bit damaged, and looked a little unsafe More positively - The location is great, the garden and surrounding area is very beautiful - The property is cosy with a lot of character - The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone, and the system for exchanging keys is handy and efficient - Plenty of room for parking outside Overall, it was one of the cheaper options in great location, and did the job for us, particularly as we were spending most of our time outside exploring the surrounding area. The property served as more of a weekend base than a home, and we were a young, un-fussy group. I can imagine, though, that this property wouldn't be great for an older group, longer trip or anyone who is a bit high maintenance.

A group of us stayed at The Old Granary for the weekend. It fitted our needs well as most of the bedrooms were twins and there was sufficient parking for several cars. The log burner was lovely and more than made up for the ancient storage heaters downstairs. The electric radiators upstairs were possible not the most energy efficient but did the job of keeping the bedrooms warm on a chilly weekend. The beds were very comfortable so we all slept well. Only negatives: the seating in the living room could be improved - one of the two settees was *very* low which could be an issue for some people, and the two wicker chairs were more suitable for sitting than lounging! The dining table seats 6 comfortably but for 7/8 people there is not much legroom. Finally, although there are two bathrooms there is only one shower which for a group of adults rather than a family meant that getting ready in the morning was a somewhat protracted business! Just a shower attachment over the bath would improve this. That being said, we would stay again as these are all only niggles rather than major problems.
