This characterful house features a turreted staircase and is just a short walk from the beach (with its own beach hut!) and other amenities.

This characterful, 1880’s Arts and Crafts property, with a turreted staircase, is one of a row and was once part of a larger house. It was allegedly the home to the mistress of one of the Le Strange family who designed and built the resort of Hunstanton in the 19th century. It has been renovated to provide more bedroom space, open plan living and an additional bathroom. There is a large, spacious, open plan living/dining room and a 17th-century stone fireplace, with a cosy wood burner for those chilly evenings. The house is situated on quiet Boston Square next to the beautiful Sensory Garden, and just a short walk from the cliff top, beach, shops, restaurants, a deli and other amenities. Don’t forget your bucket and spade, as a beach hut is also available by private arrangement with the owners. Shops, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Mistress House has to be one of the best holiday accommodations we have been in, and we have stayed in plenty over the years. It is a mix of old and new, with even more to come when the kitchen is restyled. The rooms are huge, the bathrooms modern and large and the quirky stair case a very interesting feature. Although there is no off road parking the roads in the area are quiet and well lit and there was ample parking. There was a great welcome basket when we arrive, which lasted us well into the week. We would thoroughly recommend this particular property to anyone.

We had a lovely week staying at The Mistress' House. It had everything you could possibly need. The new bathrooms are lovely and the accommodation is spacious. There are jigsaws and dvd's for a rainy afternoon and we were left a lovely basket of fruit and goodies by Ian. We went with our older children so we had no trouble with the stairs but they are steep and winding, the charm and character of the place is really lovely. Arts and crafts mixed with modern bathrooms and from what I read the kitchen is to be updated too.

We loved staying at The Mistress' House which was a lovely building with fascinating connections to the people - and lovers- of the founders of Hunstanton. A lovely, well located building close to a trail of other arts and crafts properties in the town. The main staircase would not suit anybody infirm or very small children but we found it charming.
