Description

Explore Shropshire from this idyllic location, and visit the ever popular Ironbridge Gorge and museums, easily accessible from the property.

This stunning detached holiday lodge is located in a superb position, on the same site as the largest waterwheel powering a corn mill, still working in England today and virtually unaltered since the 18th century - still in ownership of the same family for over 250 years. Set in the idyllic Shropshire countryside, deep in a wooded valley, crossed by the 19th-century viaduct, this is one of Shropshire’s finest locations. Visitors to the area are a 1-mile walk from the town centre, where you will find High Town and Low Town, plus the famous cliff railway. Other attractions nearby include Rays farm, Cosford Museum, Dudmaston Hall NT and the ever popular Ironbridge gorge and museums. There are good road links to the rest of south Shropshire including Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Shrewsbury, where you can enjoy anything from castles, festivals, and horse racing to the events at Theatre Severn. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room. Kitchen. Separate toilet. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft) with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower attachment and toilet, 1 twin with en-suite shower room and toilet.

Gas central heating (underfloor on ground floor), electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. iPod dock. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wi-fi. Enclosed garden with patio and furniture. Portable barbecue. Ample parking. No smoking. NB: Stream in grounds.

Lovely setting. Well equipped. Beds extremely comfortable. Only downside are the shower and bathroom because of the sloping ceilings. Loved watching the steam trains go past.

Lovely comfy cottage in quiet and beautiful position. Good base for touring the surrounding areas from the old towns of Ludlow to the modern town of Telford with the Iron Gorge sites a must. Very enjoyable holiday made all the better as we had gorgeous weather!

Lovely place to stay. Warm and friendly hosts at the Hurstings and the Mill. Marred by the busy road with no footpath in places. We decided that walking into Bridgnorth or the short hop to the pub were just to dodgy ; Having tried it once. The Railway is wonderful.

We have found another gem of a cottage. Great location for loads of nearby attractions, Bridgnorth, Blist Mill Victorian Town, Ironbridge, Severn Valley Railway and NT properties by the dozen. Many thanks Anne for your warm welcome and all your help, we will return.

Settled well into The Hurstings which was ideal for the two of us. Stayed at a very cold time of the year but the heating was excellent. Beds very comfortable and it was advantageous having more than one toilet.

Lovely place and excellent for a winter break; warm and comfortable with plenty to do in the local area. Only criticism is that it could do with a bigger chopping board and if that's all you can pick fault in it says something!

Lovely cottage in a quiet secluded position but within easy reach (we walked it on the Saturday for the Market) of Bridgenorth and all its amenities. It is a five minute walk up to the Swann Inn which serves very nice food and the staff there are nice and friendly. (beware there is no footpath on the road to the pub but in the lighter summer months I am sure this would not be an issue.) Excellent views of the countryside, Daniels Mill and the Viaduct, had the steam trains been running we would have been in our element. The cottage has everything you could need (more towels would have been a plus but this is not a criticism) and in the summer months there is a good sized patio area perfect for dining al fresco. Anne was always on hand and very helpful. Overall we had a wonderful weekend (a party of 2 couples 50ish) and would not hesitate to return. (especially when the choo choo trains are running)

We had a lovely warm welcome with Christmas decorations and soup in the fridge to save us from going straight out. The cottage is well thought out and has everything you could need.

We stayed in The Hurstings for 3 nights. It was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location by a watermill. It was fully equipped and very comfortable. The owner was very helpful and welcoming; when my elderly mother found she had left behind her hearing aid, the owner sent them back to us the same day. Overall a wonderful experience.

A nice cottage and a lovely location - but 6'2'' and sloping bathroom ceilings do not go well together.
