We really enjoyed our Holiday in The Gables. Gorran Haven is a lovely place and the house is well equipped and very clean. The only thing we missed was a place to sit outside. It was very nice to find a cake and a bottle of milk when we arrived.

Lovely cottage with a few cleaning issues in a fan location. When they say a small car for parking they really mean small and as it is a shared driveway with other cottages who may need wheelchair or pushchair access don't rely on parking there continuously.

A lovely peaceful place to stay and the beach is just 30 seconds from the front door. Beautiful sunrises and a beach that must be as safe as any to swim over. Virtually no 'phone signal in the house but just outside the house is fine and if only the fish and chip shop was open more.

This was out fourth visit to The Gables and our last. The reason for this are as follows. (1) Broken bed slate on arrival my son had to sleep on the floor with the matteress all week, even tho we reported this one hour into our hook day it was not fixed and no effort was made to fix it. (2) Broken dishwasher upon arrival full of old food. Engineer came on the Monday we arrived on the Saturday new dishwasher fitted on the Friday the day before we left. I had to stay at the cottage on two occasions once for the engineer to work out what was wrong and second for new dishwasher to be fitted. (3) Dirty bath on arrival sand and dirt marks around bath, also upon having showers you could tell water was not draining as you were up to your ankles in water. (4) Wall paper around bay window hanging off due to damp. (5) General dirty home dusty photo frames on wall stains on cushions. (6)Broken beach chairs you would only find this out when trying to sit on them. We save hard all year and look forward to spending quality family time in a home from home environment and this was certainly not the experience we had very disappointing cottage.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: I was sorry to hear there were some issues during this, your fourth annual stay at The Gables. I take great pride in my family cottage and would like all of my guests to have a fantastic holiday experience. I have made significant improvements to the property over the past four years during the “down” time. However on occasions, even with careful maintenance, items can fail during the season. The dishwasher was new four years ago (with 7 months annual yearly usage), and the problem was addressed as quickly as possible along with other issues raised. My housekeeper takes great pride in her job as is attested by the satisfied customers, many of whom return regularly. This is a 19th century traditional seaside cottage in our UK climes. As such the paper around the gable window can occasionally be subject to moisture retention when the weather is particularly wet from penetrating rain and condensation. Even by Cornwall standards it was a very wet spring and summer. Such maintenance has to be left until the end of the season. This is a much loved, carefully maintained cottage which provides a lovely base for walking or beach holidays, and is particularly lovely when the Cornish sun comes out!
