What a cosy comfortable cottage. The owner was very accommodating in letting us bring an extra unexpected guest along at the last moment. She also told us about the Upton Blues festival in the next village which coincided with our visit and proved to be a great day out, especially as we were visiting the area for a concert. The ground floor wet room and ground floor bedroom were the main reasons for us choosing this particular cottage. It was exactly what my disabled partner needed. The children liked the bedroom in the attic, but be aware that the doorway is very low. We had an enjoyable visit and would stay here again. It was lovely.

A beautiful conversion of an old building in an area with lots of fascinating places to visit.

The Cider Press is a nicely converted small barn, although it doesn't have an open fire or stove. It is suitable for disabled people (using the downstairs bedroom), as it has a wheelchair-friendly bathroom. On our visit, it failed the "wine glass test" - it only had three wine glasses, all different. This is usually a sign of a certain amount of neglect. And so it proved: light bulbs blown and not replaced; a greasy oven door; dirty kitchen windows; weedy brick outside surfaces; collection of dead garden chairs/tables left on premises. The major problem, however, was the stinky oil-burning boiler in the kitchen (where the missing dishwasher should have been). It was a source of heat, too, in Summer. A CO-detector was provided, so presumably the barn was safe to sleep in, but the boiler really did stink - it was really very unpleasant. (I suggest that it needs to be ripped out, and slimline electric radiators used instead; this would allow a dishwasher or washing machine to be installed in its place.) As for the area: Welland is not much of a village, more of a spread-out series of dwellings. The pub was closed and boarded up. But Great Malvern was pleasant.

A lovely, comfortable little cottage, and Jo was friendly & helpful. Nice to find somewhere accessible with character that disabled people (& oxygen!) are welcome. My mother & I enjoyed our visit, & will definitely stay again if in the area.
