10 of us had an amazing time at the Barn for my 30th birthday! We didn't want to leave! We had everything we needed and everywhere was very clean and tidy! We loved the hot tub and this was refilled nice and early the next day so we could use it again. We had a bit of trouble with the heating in one of the bedrooms but this was resolved immediately. We didn't venture out and quite glad we didn't because there didn't seem to be much around but we always intended to stay in with only being there for the weekend. All in all a really lovely place to stay and will definately rebook!!

We had a lovely wkend stay at the Barn. The Barn provided a warm and friendly welcome. It was clean and tidy and situated in a beautiful setting. Perfect for some rest and relaxation. We were entertained by some wonderful walks in the surrounding area, and ventured out on the Ravenglass railway which is a lovely day out and is only around 15mins drive from the barn. The local pub the Brown Cow served top notch food at great value. The barn is spacious with a good living space for entertaining. Overall it's appropriately priced, with the added novelty of a hot tub which was enjoyed by us all. We would return for a second stay

I wold defo recommend this place. The owner was lovely even though he wasn't there. Gave me full instructions and directions. Nice and secluded. Me and my friends had a great time. Would definitely go again. Was a good weekend. Even though the weather was not great, the shelter was great over the hot tub

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for these lovely comments and we do hope you return.

We had a great week at The Barn. The house is set in the most beautiful countryside and has stunning views from almost every window. The house itself was very quirky and characterful with most of the kitchen basics etc you would expect to find. The hot tub was a real treat and was cleaned (unobtrusively) every day. We would definitely consider another stay here.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and especially noted the hard work of our team to keep the hot tub clean for you without causing any intrusion. We hope you will return.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and The barn was perfect for us. Its a little tired in terms of fixtures and fittings but with 4 kids and a dog that suited us as we weren't treading on eggshells all week. The hotub was great to have but was a bit grubby on the first night, we mentioned this to the cleaner (who comes every day) and she sorted it out straight away. We all said we would definitely go back and if your looking for a nice spacious property in a good location for the mountains then The Barn could be for you.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind comments. We have started our annual decoration since your stay and each room will be completed during the winter period. We are so pleased you noted the attentiveness of our staff and we can confirm that they make every effort, even for back to back visitor stays, to ensure the hot tub is sparkling.

This was a great venue for a large group, squeeky floor boards were annoying however as well as bedroom windows without curtains or blinds! It took a bit to workout how to use the oven, clear instructions would have been very helpful. Hot tub was great, showers good & beds comfortable.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. The squeaky floor boards are country style pitched pine which is over 100 years old, hence the squeaking! All bedroom windows have curtains. I think you may be referring to the Velux opening in one bedroom? The situation is interesting as many people do not want the natural light blocked and others do. We are thinking of providing one detachable blind to make this a visitor’s choice. The cooker has been replaced since your visit with instructions readily available. Hope you return to test it out.

Its a bit remote but with a car ok. The barn is comfortable and catered for our needs. As a surprise 30th is was just the right location and size for our get together I would love to do this again at Christmas. Would highly recommend.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We would love you to book for Christmas and see the beautiful scenery in winter, especially if we are lucky and have a white dusting for the big day. We would agree it is better to visit with a car and the location and accommodation is great for large groups. Hope you return soon.

Spacious, warm and clean place with all amenities available. Great location! Only problem was the very squeaky floorboards when anyone walking about late at night.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The floorboards are even older than the owner and are antique pitched pine but so happy to hear you really enjoyed your stay and hope you return.

The barn is a good place for a large group of friends. Its is in need of a little updating and inpractical with thick carpets in the kitchen area and no working hoover to speak off, but well equipped in the kitchen and usign the aga was easy as novice. The downstairs bedroom was very drafty and cold and all decor a little tired. The single beds in the twin room were well beyond their best and thankfully were only used a couple of nights, the other bedrooms were of a higher standard. The Hot Tub was not working the whole week we were there with the exception of one afternoon for a couple of hours and the water went off one night as well, this was resolved quite quickly but there was no attempt to get anyone to fix the hot tub; and we did ask. The care taker apologised everyday but stated the owners could not get an electrician, we dont accept that as an excuse. For this reason we would not stay again as this was a key factor for choosing the property as base from which to celebrate a special birthday. The Brown Cow pub is worth a vist, a little gem and about a miles walk over hills, very breezy and need walking boots but well worth the walk. Overall we had a great stay its a shame our enjoyment was spoiled by the broken facilities that we feel were reflected in the price we paid and therfore I cant score it any higher.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; A new hoover has been installed at the property, and spares are always available. Annual decorating is underway. We love the plush carpets in the communal room, but we did add a rubber backed mat for the kitchen area. The beds in the twin room have been replaced. The hot tub is maintained daily. If there is an electrical problem, it cannot be used and there is nothing the caretaker can do other than contact an electrician. At the time of your visit there was wide spread flooding in our area. We called for local electricians but were told that these emergencies must be dealt with first; a position with which we entirely agreed and felt you would too. We even called an emergency electrical company who almost laughed at us, that we would expect a hot tub to be fixed while so many people were affected by floods. You will see from others comments that the hot tubs work well the vast majority of times. We hope you change your mind and return.

Great for family bookings hot tub was great lovely and warm plenty of equipment for cooking with big table for all to eat around. Kids loved being altogether for the weekend. Only downside if you sleep in a downstairs bedroom you can hear the floorboards creeping every time someone upstairs moves about other than that would recommend to others and would visit again ourselves

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The antique floorboards are quite beautiful but do make a noise and we feel this is part of the charm of the countryside property. We are considering offering optional rugs. We do hope you return.
