Overall we had a fantastic holiday and The barn was perfect for us. Its a little tired in terms of fixtures and fittings but with 4 kids and a dog that suited us as we weren't treading on eggshells all week. The hotub was great to have but was a bit grubby on the first night, we mentioned this to the cleaner (who comes every day) and she sorted it out straight away. We all said we would definitely go back and if your looking for a nice spacious property in a good location for the mountains then The Barn could be for you.

This was a great venue for a large group, squeeky floor boards were annoying however as well as bedroom windows without curtains or blinds! It took a bit to workout how to use the oven, clear instructions would have been very helpful. Hot tub was great, showers good & beds comfortable.

Its a bit remote but with a car ok. The barn is comfortable and catered for our needs. As a surprise 30th is was just the right location and size for our get together I would love to do this again at Christmas. Would highly recommend.

Spacious, warm and clean place with all amenities available. Great location! Only problem was the very squeaky floorboards when anyone walking about late at night.

The barn is a good place for a large group of friends. Its is in need of a little updating and inpractical with thick carpets in the kitchen area and no working hoover to speak off, but well equipped in the kitchen and usign the aga was easy as novice. The downstairs bedroom was very drafty and cold and all decor a little tired. The single beds in the twin room were well beyond their best and thankfully were only used a couple of nights, the other bedrooms were of a higher standard. The Hot Tub was not working the whole week we were there with the exception of one afternoon for a couple of hours and the water went off one night as well, this was resolved quite quickly but there was no attempt to get anyone to fix the hot tub; and we did ask. The care taker apologised everyday but stated the owners could not get an electrician, we dont accept that as an excuse. For this reason we would not stay again as this was a key factor for choosing the property as base from which to celebrate a special birthday. The Brown Cow pub is worth a vist, a little gem and about a miles walk over hills, very breezy and need walking boots but well worth the walk. Overall we had a great stay its a shame our enjoyment was spoiled by the broken facilities that we feel were reflected in the price we paid and therfore I cant score it any higher.

Great for family bookings hot tub was great lovely and warm plenty of equipment for cooking with big table for all to eat around. Kids loved being altogether for the weekend. Only downside if you sleep in a downstairs bedroom you can hear the floorboards creeping every time someone upstairs moves about other than that would recommend to others and would visit again ourselves

Beautiful cottage and location, with lovely fire and sofas. The owners provided helpful folder with walks and local information. Only issue is that it is a bit far from local ammunities, so food shopping was a bit of a nightmare, perhaps the owners could leave essentials like bread and milk upon arrival. The hot tub was great and warm, however the fuel that I paid 15 pound extra for was not value for money. It only provided a warm enough fire for one night, meaning the room got chilly quick. Also, we were only left one toilet roll per bathroom, which wasn't nearly enough for two nights, surely these are essentials. Overall, great value for money and lovely cottage.

Would definately stay again. Perfect for our weekend away to relax and catch up. The local pub was very welcoming and the food was lovely if you decide to venture out. Will be recommending !

A lovely property. Plenty of room, nice to have a hot tub on site too. Shame that the creaky floor boards made it feel like you were crossing a nightingale floor every time, and nobody could go to the bathroom in the night without waking the whole house. Also no phone line or WiFi for our stay. Overall very pretty though in a nice part of the country.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. As the Barn is a 17th Century building, noisier floor boards and low beams are quite common. This is a very big property with only 3 of the 5 bedrooms on the top floor and on separate sides of the house, so far enough away from each other, we believe, not to cause too much disturbance. Unfortunately BT are the only supplier and are doing some engineering work in the area which is causing problems for our neighbours and ourselves. The phone line is all working now.

A fantastic place to get away from it all. Beautiful barn and good facilities, including a hot tub! Would highly recommend as it was great value and the area is beautiful.

Fab house, hot tub is amazing. Very out of the way of everything which was nice. Description does say the beach is a walk away but it isnt really. The floorboards on second floor are very very creaky but this is part of the houses charm. Only one roll of toilet paper provided per loo which is not great, only a few bin bags and hardly any cleaning products provided. we ended up having to go out and buy some bits. Caretaker does come visit everyday which can be quite off putting but I understand they have had bad parties stay in the past. The house is brilliant all in all, very big, towels for shower and hot tub were both provided. Nice big table for everyone to eat round. 12 of us went for a 30th birthday and had an amazing wknd.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks for providing your feedback. The description states the coast is 2 miles away which is about 45 minutes walk or 5-10 minute by car. It is difficult in a 17th century house to stop floor boards squeaking and are pleased you saw the charm in our property. We provide a starter kit for visitors, as is the norm in rental, so toilet rolls, rubbish bags, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid with cleaning cloths and much more are all provided. We also provide enough logs for one evening too in autumn and winter. If more supplies are needed then visitors do need to bring / order their own supplies. The caretakers try to ensure that visitors are happy and that any issues are resolved same day. You would be surprised how many people complain after they have left and do not provide owners with the opportunity to remedy problems. When you return just let us know you do not want to be disturbed and we would be happy to just maintain the hot tub and not make direct contact. So happy you had a great stay and noticed our bath sheets!

The Barn was in a great location. Great layout so that you could cook and prepare meals whilst still interacting with the rest of the family. The caretakers checked the hot tub daily and also made sure we were okay. They were extremely friendly and helpful.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback about our team, who try really hard to help all visitors. We are pleased you enjoyed the new hot tub and hope that you will return soon.

Beautiful location, off the beaten track - a short walk (coffee in hand) up onto Corney Fell, absolutely stunning. Low beams on the top floor but fairly accessible. Large property with everything you need. Hot tub was amazing in the evening after long walks. Owner very friendly and helpful.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback and kind words about our customer service; our team try really hard to help all visitors. The low beams on the upper floor resulted from our National Park building regulations. Unfortunately the stairwell we had planned had to be moved due to the main structure of the Barn. We are pleased you enjoyed the new hot tub and hope that you will return soon.
