The barn is a good place for a large group of friends. Its is in need of a little updating and inpractical with thick carpets in the kitchen area and no working hoover to speak off, but well equipped in the kitchen and usign the aga was easy as novice. The downstairs bedroom was very drafty and cold and all decor a little tired. The single beds in the twin room were well beyond their best and thankfully were only used a couple of nights, the other bedrooms were of a higher standard. The Hot Tub was not working the whole week we were there with the exception of one afternoon for a couple of hours and the water went off one night as well, this was resolved quite quickly but there was no attempt to get anyone to fix the hot tub; and we did ask. The care taker apologised everyday but stated the owners could not get an electrician, we dont accept that as an excuse. For this reason we would not stay again as this was a key factor for choosing the property as base from which to celebrate a special birthday. The Brown Cow pub is worth a vist, a little gem and about a miles walk over hills, very breezy and need walking boots but well worth the walk. Overall we had a great stay its a shame our enjoyment was spoiled by the broken facilities that we feel were reflected in the price we paid and therfore I cant score it any higher.

Great for family bookings hot tub was great lovely and warm plenty of equipment for cooking with big table for all to eat around. Kids loved being altogether for the weekend. Only downside if you sleep in a downstairs bedroom you can hear the floorboards creeping every time someone upstairs moves about other than that would recommend to others and would visit again ourselves

Beautiful cottage and location, with lovely fire and sofas. The owners provided helpful folder with walks and local information. Only issue is that it is a bit far from local ammunities, so food shopping was a bit of a nightmare, perhaps the owners could leave essentials like bread and milk upon arrival. The hot tub was great and warm, however the fuel that I paid 15 pound extra for was not value for money. It only provided a warm enough fire for one night, meaning the room got chilly quick. Also, we were only left one toilet roll per bathroom, which wasn't nearly enough for two nights, surely these are essentials. Overall, great value for money and lovely cottage.

The Barn was in a great location. Great layout so that you could cook and prepare meals whilst still interacting with the rest of the family. The caretakers checked the hot tub daily and also made sure we were okay. They were extremely friendly and helpful.

Beautiful location, lots of character. The beds were really comfortable and all the bedding was fresh and clean. The Hot Tub in the Garden was excellent. Overall a nice place well worth visiting again especially for larger groups.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking time to post your feedback. We are pleased you like our new hot tub which was installed just before your visit. We chose a style with Bluetooth speakers to provide visitors with the ability to choose music to suit their mood. We hope you will return.

We had a really good time. Luckily we wanted to be out of the way as there isn't really anything less than 14 miles away. Perfect for a weekend away with friends and dogs. Hot tub great. The only downfall was all the pots and plates wernt clean so we had to clean as we go. Everything else was great.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your comments and we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Firstly apologies for any problem you faced with the pots and plates. Our caretakers try their hardest to maintain this large building and its contents to high standards but on occasions some things can be missed. Caretakers are on site each day and would be happy to address any items missed if requested. It is true that use of a car is preferred for our location. However, it is only one mile to walk to the local pub, and a 5 minute drive to Bootle Village Store. To get to a large grocery store you would need a car, although Tesco can deliver to the door. For leisure, aside from the closeness to the coast and the western lakes we have pubs, restaurants, cafes, horse riding, golf, swimming etc. and essential services all within a few minutes’ drive with details in our welcome booklet.
