We really loved the cottage, immaculately clean and tidy and very cosy and warm. The owner was really attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and welcomed us to the cottage. the surrounding countryside is the most beautiful in Europe and there are amazing walks immediately from the house.

Lovely cottage in a good area for exploring. We found the cottage perfect for 2. A few niggles: We had to wash the crockery, pans and cutlery before we used them, as they were greasy from previous use; Some other items were in need of a good wash - oven gloves covered in food etc. The TV buzzes which becomes really annoying!

Lacking were incidentals for kitchen, towels (although the list of supplied items excludes towels) one assumes they are supplied. Shower was broken difficult to use. No hot water except in shower. Tea towel(single) was dirty and wet. Information stated how to use dryer. There was no dryer. The owner did supply towels when we telephoned.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry your stay was not to the standard you expected and I am surprised by your overall rating of 2. Having rented the property for over 28 years and just receiving our annual audit from the letting company we received a standard of good / very good. The cottage is set in stunning surroundings with local amenties within a 3 mile radius. Towels are not provided however when you contacted our caretaker she went and purchased towels for you and brought them to the cottage. With regards to incidentals for the kitchen and wet tea towels - there were extras of this sort in the cupboards in the Kitchen. Hot water in the kitchen requires the immerser to be switched on at the wall in the kitchen. This is clearly stated on the kitchen wall. I am surprised that the shower head was broken as a family member was visiting the following week and experience no issues however based on your feedback as I have requested a plumber to look at this. Regarding the dryer my apologies as a part to the dryer broke 2 weeks before your arrival. We have now removed this facility from the website

We spent a relaxing 4 days at Cairnbaan, the location is excellent with easy access to the Crinan Canal and local amenities. I would recommend the Cairnbaan Hotel for food and a trip to Tayvallich.

We were very dissappointed with our stay at Cairnbaan cottage. On entering for the first time there was a strong smell of curry which, even though we opened all the windows, remained somewhat for the whole week The approach to the cottage is not very pleasant as it is along a rough track and there were weeds all around the door. Towels were not provided which we think is unusal these days. Inside it was very basic for the price we paid. Beds were very roughly made and there was dirt all along the tiles in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we felt the cottage needed a bit of updating and painting. That been said, the area is very beautiful and as we had a very hot week we did not have to spend much time in the cottage.
