We loved this cottage, very spacious and very well equipped. The shower downstairs was very good. Some sofas a bit hard but the beds were very comfortable. Kitchen had everything in it you would need. The games room was well used, table tennis, snooker, tennis rackets and boules. Although others have said you don't get a welcome basket you do get kitchen roll, loo rolls, washing up liquid, cling film, handwash at every basin which were very useful. The rayburn has now been removed and a very good halogen hob, electric cooker put in its place. We did not have use of the fields around the cottage as there sheep on it and we didn't want to walk through with our dog. The garden is very spacious with lots of outside furniture. As it is very remote there is no light pollution so the stars were easy to spot at night, a torch had been provided to walk round at night in the garden. Our dog loved the large garden and chasing the squirrels. The wifi is excellent and a landline provided as our mobiles didn't get a signal which was very handy. Enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again.

The cottage situation is really beautiful and secluded, completely private and isolated, with a peaceful away from it all atmosphere. A lovely house with buzzards, owls and other stunning bird life around. Very mixed views about the interior though. Pros: very nice bedrooms, well decorated and comfy beds. Good bathroom and ok shower downstairs in what was once a cupboard, but perfectly adequate. Log burner in family room good. Kitchen well equipped, utility room very useful with a washer and dryer. The games room is fantastic for family table tennis and pool. Cons: the house downstairs needs a deep clean (with all the dogs staying this is a necessity a couple of times a year but obviously not done for a long time). There's a distinct dirty dog smell in the family room that we couldn't shift even with scented candles. We found an old coke can, empty crisp packet and cobwebbed egg cup under the high legged (in theory easy to clean under) sofa, empty Rizla packet in kids bedroom. Not nice. The sofas are nice old pieces but stained and way beyond their best, really need some new padding on the seats. The so called 8 acres that we could roam in had lots of sheep right up to the front gate very near the house as the land is let to a farmer and much is so overgrown it's impassible. Finally, there's no phone signal but good wifi and a phone with honesty box. I agree with previous reviewer too that it would be good to be left a few basics like a pint of milk. Most places do this now. There were eggs but you are asked to leave money for them, along with a note saying a small extra basket of logs would cost £10! This could be a fantastic house given the building and location but very mixed feelings and don't think we'd go back I'm sad to say.

The cottage would be wonderful if it was well cared for. Unfortunately, we had to disconnect the non-working (but beeping due to a broken wire) smoke alarm, replace bulbs in lamps, and vacuum up the dead flies, and insects on the carpets, and sofa, when we arrived. All the items in the kitchen worked, and the garden was wonderful.

This cottage needs a lot of tlc as a lot of it is looking tired and shabby. It could also have been a bit cleaner and a lot of the paintwork looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We actually couldn't use the dishwasher as it had old food stuck to the bottom and we didn't see why we should have to clean it. When we got there we found a load of towels spilling out of the tumble dryer onto the floor, which we then had to finish drying before we could use them. The door to the games room wouldn't open so we had to phone the caretakers. They said they knew about it and would come the next day to sort it out. They did that but if they already knew about it they should have fixed it straight away and not waited for us to phone them. All but one of the beds were quite hard so new mattresses wouldn't go amiss. We were also looking forward to exploring the 8 acres mentioned in the description but most of it is too boggy to walk on. In the description it said that there was a wood burner but when we got there the information said that if you use it you get a lot of smoke in the room, so not much good. We were also surprised that we were asked to put a wash on before we left. I think that if they expect people to do that they could at least leave a welcome gift, eg. milk, cake, wine or eggs. They did in fact leave some eggs but they wanted us to leave the money for them! I have to say that these days it is unusual not to find some sort of welcome gift. All in all we were quite disappointed in the accommodation but as we went out every day we enjoyed ourselves nevertheless. I'm glad we had good weather as I don't think we would have liked having to stay in the cottage all day.

We were looking for a get away break with space for the children and dogs to run free and this is exactly what we got! The cottage is very rural, providing wonderful peace and quiet! It was bliss to fall asleep to the sound of the stream and owls hooting! We enjoyed walking locally off our doorstep and being near to the black mountains. The farmer very kindly moved the sheep off the land when he knew we had dogs. The house is well-equipped with all your need. The games room didn't get as much use as we thought as was rather chilly in winter! The only negative I find is the sofas could do with replacing as rather tired and a little uncomfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
