One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Owners are very friendly, as were their 2 cats. There was a wonderful welcome pack of groceries and home made jam provided by the owners on our arrival which was a very nice touch. The cottage was well furnished and equipped (could be perfection with the addition of a full length mirror and a bread bin). The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the large shower very effective. There is free WiFi at the property. Local amenities include a pub and a small arts and crafts centre with a couple of small grocery stores within a few miles. Lincoln (cathedral and castle) Grantham (Belton House) Newark (castle and civil war walk) and Stamford (Burghley House) all within an easy drive. Overall a very nice place to stay.

A lovely comfortable cottage in a pleasant village. Lovely and clean with all home from home appliances. The welcome pack was a generous bonus. Food is good in the local pub - bit pricey

Very friendly owners David was very helpful and the welcome pack was the best we have ever had. After a 6 hour drive the goodies were very welcome. We did not meet Danelle as she was ill. There are 2 very friendly cats who are only to pleased to see you. There is a lot of gravel which made getting my wheelchair from the car to the lodge and visa versa . Good not sit in the sitting area as that is where you park your car.

Beautiful cottage and location was fantastic for us.Lovely welcome pack on arrival which is the best we have ever had and the finishing touches were lovely. The only we had to make was there was a lack of mirrors in fact no long mirror at all.The owners could have put some small chairs and a little table at the Front of the house as the bench at the back was shaded and no sun was around there.overall a beautiful cottage.

The owners were not very helpful on the first night the cooker did not work Dave the owner could not get it to work said he would get someone to fix it he never did had to eat out all week where my car was parked under a big tree by the side of cottage every morning my car was covered with leaves and birds mess had to clean off car for safety before I could drive it asked if l could park outside the as there was plenty room he said no when we packed to go home he did not even ask us if we wanted to park our car nearer the cottage as it was raining and a bit difficult where the car was parked for a 68yr old to go too and through.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; As you can imagine, we were very upset to read this review. With regards to the issue with the cooker, the oven was working which I established with yourselves however the control switch had been slightly damaged leaving it off set from the 'function in use' image on the control panel. The tradesman arrived after you had left which is the soonest we could get someone out and confirmed the oven was working and checked it for safety, he has also ordered a new part which we are awaiting. As you never raised the issue again during your stay we assumed all was well and you were using the oven as usual. It has been working perfectly well for our latest two families who have had no problems. As regards the leaves and birds Stone Lodge is situated in a leafy, tree lined conservation area that is full of all kinds of wildlife from deer to buzzards and many other bird species. It is inevitable that leaves and our feathered friends will land on cars especially in the rain but there is on street parking available if you choose to use it which has slightly less tree cover than Stone Lodge. As regards our attitude I can only refer you to the wonderful reviews we have received over the last two years below on the site as well as receiving customer choice awards in 2015 & 2016. Our welcome and helpfulness are regularly commented on so we were somewhat surprised to receive your comments. Sadly Stone Lodge was clearly not the type of accommodation that suited you however we will continue to give our returning and new guests a warm welcome and a great experience.
