Lovely cottage, awesome hosts. Pros: wildlife, large kitchen, bed size, private, equidistant from many places, lovely local town, no wifi! No phone signal. Cons: parking is a bit hairy (on a busy bend), busy road Minor niggles : if you have little legs or mobility issues the bed is a bit low, likewise a handle on the bath wall for the shower

We were looking for something just like this in the Cheviot foothills – Upper Coquet Valley and it didn't disappoint. The owner helpful, and clearly most concerned to protect the local wildlife, of which there was quite a lot. [Siskins and woodpeckers visited the garden feeder, voles foraged underneath, bats flew in evening, a stoat was crossing the road, and the red squirrels survive close by. Curlews around the valleys.] The pub at Redesdale seemed a bit of a drive, but well worth the effort. The chairs in the sitting room proved much more comfortable than some cottages, and the kitchen worked really well (though we suspect the microwave will need replacing before too long). May well return.
