Enjoying views over open countryside, this cosy cottage has wood burner, wooden floor and patio doors to south facing patio.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with patio doors and wooden floor. Kitchen/utility with tiled floor. Double bedroom with wooden floor and en-suite wet room with bidet and toilet.

Had an amazing stay at Rusty's Cottage. Tim and Sally were very welcoming and the little touches like fresh eggs and milk left out were lovely. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The owners are the most pleasant of people and could not be more helpful or welcoming. First class cottage, very comfortable and fully equipped. Charming side events such as feeding the horses carrots for breakfast. You have to drive everywhere from the cottage-even for purchasing local produce. Two good pubs a short drive away.

Excellent relaxing break away from it all. Well furnished cottage with all features you need, scored amenities low as nothing much close by, but that's what we wanted. Fresh eggs, wine, biscuits, milk, nuts and cake from the owner on arrival.

Such a lovely cottage in a beautiful location that feels remote but is a quick trip in the car from whatever you could want or need. The cottage is thoughtfully equipped with all the furnishings you need and helpful little bits and pieces such as dishwasher tablets, shower gel and wood for the burner. The wine and cake were also a delightful touch! Tim and Sally were so approachable and went the extra mile by letting us use their landline and ensuring the safe delivery of a suit we left behind! A final magical memory was waking in the middle of the night to hear two owls hooting enthusiastically to each other! I just wish we had an excuse to visit this part of the country again soon :-)

Very warm welcome, lovely cottages and many nice little touches like the fire already for us to light. Only negative was a local pub to eat out would have been nice but this is obviously beyond the owners. Thank you for a very relaxing week.

Our stay at Rusty's cottage was fantastic. Ian and Sally, our hosts, were very welcoming and ensured that the cottage was ready for our arrival. The cottage itself is compact but finished to a very high standard. Our visit was in November and the cottage was always nice and warm and very cosy. The log burner in the main room was also excellent. The location was very convenient for York and there are many lovely places nearby to visit (albeit you will need to drive to them). We would heartily recommend the cottage and will hopefully returning at some point.

Beautiful well equipped clean homely cottage. Only down side was location and to get anywhere you would need to travel. But if your looking for somewhere idyllic and quite this would be your place.
