Description

Enjoying views over open countryside, this cosy cottage has wood burner, wooden floor and patio doors to south facing patio.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

We enjoyed our stay, the cottage was lovely and in a great location with easy access to York and the surrounding area. The welcome gifts from the owners was a lovely touch too. We would definitely recommend a stay here and thought it was good value for money.

Lovely cottage, small but spacious and very nicely decorated with everything you need. Our little boy loved the pet ponies, sheep and hens. Close to York and coastal towns such as Bridlington and Scarborough as well lots of smaller picturesque villages.

A beautiful and well maintained cottage, by the fabulous Sally and Tim! So welcoming and friendly. Real piece of mind, as I was there alone with my young son. Had the opportunity to see inside both cottages and both are to the same high spec. Defo be back and would probably book both, so my parents could stay in one, as a treat!

Rusty's cottage is lovely. We arrived to find it immaculate, the owners were very helpful throughout and the position, looking out onto the animals is great. The bed is super comfy and the wood burner was just what we needed. We would definitely come back another time.

We spent a fantastic week at Rustys cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and I would have happily lived in it! It has some great features because of it being converted from kennels, I loved the arched doorways. The log stove was great and provided lots of heat. We were provided with enough logs to last our stay which we were extremely impressed with as often you just get an initial bag and then have to buy more when you run out. The kitchen was very well equipped and the light poured in through the sky light window. The bathroom with its walk in shower was great. The bedroom was a lovely size and had plenty of storage. I often find holiday lets don't have enough storage but Rustys cottage had so much we didn't even use it all. It was also a bonus to find a TV/DVD player in the bedroom so when the football was on I was able to watch a film in bed! The cottage was spotlessly clean. Towels, tea towels, dish cloths etc were all provided and the welcome pack was a real treat too. The owners were lovely really pleasant people who offered lots of help and were on hand should you need anything but were not at all intrusive. Location is great, just a short drive to the Park and Ride into York, shopping parks and cinema and very close by is Stamford Bridge with a range of take aways and a co-op. I would recommend this cottage to anyone considering it and have already been encouraging friends and family to visit. You won't be disappointed.

We had a wonderful break at Rusty's Cottage. Tim and Sally have done a fantastic job renovating a derelict building into a stunning cottage.
