Riverside location

Commanding an imposing waterside position, Riverside House stands on the banks of the River Waveney, the gateway to the southern Broads, a short walk from the market square in the pretty town of Beccles on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. It is set in a street of mostly medieval and Georgian houses, each with their own architectural charm, and has a private, riverside terrace which overlooks the 16th-century church and bell tower where Lord Horatio Nelson’s parents were wed. A house for all seasons, you can sit round the roaring log fire in winter, or enjoy the west-facing private terrace and gardens in summer, watching magnificent sunsets over the fields. Fishermen will delight in fishing from the holiday property’s large pretty riverside garden and patio – a rowing dinghy and two buoyancy lifejackets are even provided for river trips or picnics. Walk to the centre of the charming market square to enjoy a drink at one of the many local inns and traditional country pubs or savour a leisurely meal at one of the restaurants. A range of independent delicatessens sell epicurean speciality local produce and there is even a Victorian sporting shop. Explore all the attractions that Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer including Southwold, 15 miles, with its seafront, pier and summer theatre, or Dunwich Heath and beach. There is also RSPB Minsmere to visit, Aldeburgh with its fishing boats and local seafood, and Snape Maltings with its concert hall. Pleasurewood Hills theme park and Africa Alive are not to be missed, and children will love the treetop experience at BeWILDerwood adventure park. Shops, pubs and restaurants 300 yards.

Beautiful cottage on the riverside at Beccles, Suffolk. The cottage was extremely clean and tidy and everything you could possibly need was there. Lovely spot to sit in the sun and take in the lovely views and fish. Boats too and from on the river, but very quiet. Beccles has a few decent supermarkets in the town, but also lovely querky shops, bars and restaurants to suit all pockets. Beccles also have a village show and parade through the streets in August - but thats really nice too.

A super house in a super location. There were only two of us but with six the house would still feel spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were a decent supply of conidements etc probably left by past visitors, together with a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. There was plenty of garden furniture including six sun lounges and a barbecue. The two largest bedrooms each had a hairdryer and were very well proportioned. Wi-fi connection was excellent. The town had a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways.

We (3 men) rented this property for a fishing holiday. The location and accommodation was everything we could have hoped for. Easy walking distance to the town for breakfast, the shops and dinner and drinks in the evening. The property had everything we needed and the fishing was very good.

This is the third time we have stayed at Riverside, and have already booked again for next year. The house is warm and comfortable and alway spotlessly clean, with large airy rooms. It's position by the river is a perfect place to watch the world go by especially if, like us, getting about is a bit difficult. Beccles is a delightful town with good places to eat and much to see around and about.

Spacious house in a fabulous riverside location within easy walking distance of the centre of Beccles. It is an ideal location for touring Suffolk and Norfolk but you could just stay in the house and enjoy the view if you wanted.

The cottage was brilliant. Warm, comfortable and very well equipped. The welcoming touches were much appreciated. The only thing we could not find was a maid!

We stayed at Riverside House in July and can honestly say we had a great time. The house has everything that you need , it is well maintained and very spacious, every room has a riverside view, great for relaxing and watching the boats go by. The fishing that week was great for my husband who caught some large pike!! Would definitely recommend Riverside house and would not hesitate to rent this place again.
