Imposing detached farmhouse, ideal for larger groups of family or friends, with open fire, wood floors and games room.

Set amidst peaceful countryside, this imposing detached farmhouse stands adjacent to the original farm buildings and overlooks the owner’s working arable farm, where seasonal operations provide a colourful reminder of the passage of the seasons. Rascal Wood provides holiday accommodation which is spacious, contemporary, light and airy, perfect for special celebrations, groups of friends or a family get-together. Surrounded by lawned gardens with seating areas and patio for alfresco dining, along with an eco-friendly underfloor heating system and open fire, this is an ideal house at any time of year. The village of Holme-on-Spalding Moor offers a convenient range of shops, pubs, restaurants and bakery. The area around the village is a maze of country lanes, perfect for walking and cycling. Being at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, this is a relatively undiscovered area which inspired the paintings of David Hockney. There are numerous attractions to visit including The Deep, a spectacular aquarium in Hull, and the Jorvik Centre and magnificent Minster in York. The historic market town of Beverley is just a 20 minute drive and the coastal resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough along with the North Yorkshire Moors are all easily accessible. Golf, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding are available locally and the owner is happy to share his extensive local knowledge, giving advice on walks, cycle routes and nature reserve locations. Wonderful property and quiet location if all our family were able to holiday together again Rascal Wood will be top of our list. Also situated well for tourist attractions in the surrounding area and walks direct from the house.

What an amazing surprise when my search criteria was for 14 people and 2 pets. Not what I would call a 'cottage', but this was an ideal and relatively isolated property, perfect for our family get together and celebratory wing walk at nearby Breighton aerodrome. I would certainly have given a ten for value, had we been staying for the whole week and not just for three nights. Regarding comfort and equipment only minor observations: kids would have appreciated a light in the games room; kids would also have liked a better TV aerial; first impressions would have been great if the quilt covers had been ironed. We will certainly give serious consideration to staying here again for either a family get together, or a party of some description. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and informative on things to see and do in the immediate area and were readily available if required.

This is a fantastic property that was perfect for us; ideally situated with easy access to lots of great places (as long as you have a car). The property itself is brilliant and had everything we needed.

We stayed at Rascal Wood 21st-28th December 2014. The family (14 + 2 dog had a great time during our stay. The house was absolutely lovely; the owners met us on arrival and were very helpful and hospitable. Would definitely recommend.
