The village of Holme-on-Spalding Moor offers a convenient range of shops, pubs, restaurants and bakery. The area around the village is a maze of country lanes, perfect for walking and cycling. Being at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, this is a relatively undiscovered area which inspired the paintings of David Hockney. There are numerous attractions to visit including The Deep, a spectacular aquarium in Hull, and the Jorvik Centre and magnificent Minster in York. The historic market town of Beverley is just a 20 minute drive and the coastal resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough along with the North Yorkshire Moors are all easily accessible. Golf, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding are available locally and the owner is happy to share his extensive local knowledge, giving advice on walks, cycle routes and nature reserve locations. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    The house was very attractive, a good size, and very well equipped. It had a very spacious kitchen that covered all our needs. The small children in our party particularly liked playing games in the garden and they thought the glass floor panels on the top floor were very exciting. The house was set in a very peaceful location with views out over the fields. The owners were very keen to tell us about the walks you could take around the property. The main issue we had with the holiday was the distances we had to travel to any places of interest. This was hard with small children. It was a long drive to get to York, Hull or the seaside. While we thought the property was excellent and the location would suit a lot of people who want a quiet holiday, it was not quite right for us.

    Had a lovely time in a beautiful house. Mr and Mrs Hawcroft could not have been nicer. Would definitely return and recommend.

    We stayed on the 4th dec for 3 nights. Everything was perfect. All utensils were provided, your basics such as salt pepper tomatoe sauce washing up liquid and shower gel were provided. The house was lovely and clean looking freshly decorated. We didn't actually venture out but I think the location was good for access to York/hull. The owner met us at the property and was very welcoming and very helpful when we called with queries on the local area. I would highly recommend the property. We all had an amazing time.
